About Rechargeable Battery Materials in Canada

Umicore is preparing to build a battery materials production plant in Loyalist Township, Ontario - the first of its kind in North America.

The cutting-edge facility will be a critical part of Canada’s electric vehicle (EV) supply chain. Throughout the design, construction, and operation of the plant, Umicore will be seeking a variety of professionals who share our passion for innovation and sustainability.

What you will be doing

For this new site, we are looking for a Security Specialist ,reporting to the General Site Services Manager. In this role you will be responsible for helping to develop, create, implement and coordinate comprehensive site security for the Battery Materials Canada operational facility in Loyalist.

This role will evolve from an organization in start-up mode to the creation of a structured security department. The Security Specialist will help to create plans for the future facility, implement those plans, and manage all policies, procedures, processes and systems linked to security for the manufacturing plant.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a robust security plan that encompasses access control, perimeter security, surveillance systems, CCTV, visitor management and response protocols.
  • Establish and conduct regular security drills to ensure the readiness of the security team.
  • Help create, review, and update security policies and procedures in line with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.

Including in particular personal traffic procedures taking into account the scope of access control, material traffic procedure, vehicle control rules, instructions dedicated to technical security systems with respect to their specifics and necessary maintenance activities

  • Coordination of external companies in the area of site security, daily follow ups, contract monitoring, and close communication with contractors.
  • Oversee the installation, operation, administration and maintenance of the integrated security systems.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential security threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Help implement and execute the overall physical security management plan.
  • Assist in developing and delivering security awareness programs to educate employees on best practices and procedures.

Who we are looking for

  • Bachelor's degree in Security Management, Criminal Justice, or a combination of education and experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of proven experience in physical security or internal security field (corporate sector).
  • Good understanding and knowledge of security process, privacy regulations and risks analysis.
  • Good understanding and knowledge of technical security systems
  • In-depth knowledge of security protocols, technologies, and best practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Ability to lead / coordinate multiple tasks / projects simultaneously
  • Able to work independently and self-managed
