AFA Systems Ltd., an Engineer to Order Manufacturer of High‑Speed Packaging Machinery, is searching for a detail‑oriented Senior Accountant with a strong manufacturing background to support the controller and senior management in overseeing the company’s accounting operations.

Responsibilities
Coordinating accounting functions and programs.Assisting with preparing and monitoring budgets.Maintaining and reconciling balance sheets and general ledger accounts.Preparing, investigating, and resolving audit findings, account discrepancies, and issues of non‑compliance.Ensuring accurate and timely remittance of payroll deductions and related remittances (Payroll tax, CPP, EI, WSIB, EHT, RRSP).Ensuring every item in the Balance Sheet is supported and reported correctly.Assisting with day‑to‑day accounting operations and the timely close of month‑end / year‑end processes, including GL reconciliations and variance analysis reports.Supporting the development and maintenance of timely and accurate financial statements and reports in accordance with GAAP.Liaising with external accountants to prepare the company’s annual financial statements.Ensuring proper monthly revenue reporting through daily review and reconciliation of sales entries and receipts.Maintaining foreign exchange conversion tables, tax rates, and other mapping processes affecting sales entries.Assisting with managing Canadian and U.S. sales taxes and corporate taxes for all operational entities.Ensuring company compliance with all regulatory and governmental agencies.Supporting the Finance Team on special projects.Monitoring, motivating, and communicating progress on key goals and initiatives to team members.Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.CPA designation or in progress (considered an asset).5–8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including manufacturing.Strong knowledge of cost accounting, inventory management, and variance analysis.Working knowledge of tax laws.Excellent QuickBooks Desktop and Online skills.Excellent Excel skills.Strong financial analysis, communication (written and verbal), organizational, and stress‑management skills.Excellent MS Office Suite skills (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access).Ability to work with little to no supervision.Excellent understanding of GAAP and relevant financial accounting regulations.Excellent numerical proficiency, problem‑solving skills, and ability to aggregate large data sets.Work Environment
