Job Purpose

The Health & Safety Coordinator will work closely with and directly assist the Health & Safety Manager in implementing and monitoring company-wide safety programs and ensuring compliance with legislative requirements. This position plays a key role in promoting a culture of safety through proactive engagement, training, and consistent communication across job sites.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Assist the Health & Safety Manager in developing, implementing, and maintaining Zgemi’s Health & Safety policies and procedures.
• Conduct regular site inspections and audits to ensure compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and company standards.
• Support the preparation and documentation of incident reports, hazard assessments, and corrective actions.
• Participate in accident / incident investigations and assist with root cause analysis and follow-up actions.
• Coordinate and track employee safety training, orientations, and certifications (e.g., WHMIS, Working at Heights, AODA).
• Maintain accurate safety records, including inspection logs, JHSC minutes, and monthly reports.
• Assist in organizing and delivering toolbox talks, safety meetings, and other awareness sessions.
• Communicate with project teams and subcontractors to reinforce compliance and ensure safe work practices are consistently followed.
• Provide support during Ministry of Labour inspections and assist with WSIB and COR documentation.
• Perform other related duties as required to support the Health & Safety Manager and site teams.

Working Conditions

Qualifications & Skills Required

Post-secondary education or certification in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent field.

Work Locations

Primarily based in Toronto; travel required to various project sites across Ontario depending on project needs. Valid Ontario driver’s license and ability to drive between sites is required.
