Electrical Controls Engineer
Our client specializes in large-scale electrical, automation, and controls projects. They are currently looking for an experienced Electrical Controls Engineer to join their team in Pickering.
Role and Responsibilities :
- Prepare and review technical design documentation
- Determine optimal automation solution to meet customers' needs and provide costing to project management team
- Lead and / or assist on Proposal Generation for key opportunities
- Travel to client sites for installation and commissioning support when required
- Strong understanding of cost and schedule management, delegation of work to a team and managing performance to deliver projects aligned with customers expectation
- Monitor progress of projects and maintain costs within budget
- Instrumentation and control system design while staying current with technology trends
- PLC / HMI programming and commissioning
- VFD troubleshooting, programming and commissioning
- Provide on-going support for customers
- Periodically generating work through business development
- Assist and periodically lead Junior and Intermediate Engineers in assembling panels in our panel shop
- Develop SCADA solutions tailored to customers needs
- Design and program systems from scratch
Qualifications :
- Degree in Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering (or equivalent)
- Minimum of five (5) years as a Senior Controls Engineer or equivalent
- AutoCAD Electrical knowledge to prepare drawings and electrical schematics
- Experience with Allen Bradley, Siemens, Rockwell, and Mitsubishi PLCs
- Experience working on projects for various industries
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Extensive knowledge of electrical and electronic instrumentations
- Ability to prioritize work and deal with conflicts professionally in order to meet deadlines
