We are seeking a Financial Controller who will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and payroll functions.

This role requires a hands-on leader who can manage a small team while ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting.

You will play a key role in supporting the company's financial goals and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements!

Responsibilities

Reporting to the CFO, your duties and responsibilities will include;

Accounting Oversight :

  • Oversee all day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and financial reporting.
  • Ensure the timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Manage the year-end audit process, coordinating with external auditors and preparing all necessary documentation.
  • Maintain and enforce internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial accuracy.

Budgeting and Forecasting :

  • Lead the annual budgeting process, working closely with department heads to develop realistic and achievable budgets.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly forecasts, analyzing variances between actual results and budget / forecast figures.
  • Provide financial analysis and insights to support strategic decision-making and business planning.

Payroll Management :

  • Oversee the payroll function, ensuring timely and accurate payroll processing for all employees.
  • Ensure compliance with all payroll-related regulations, including tax filings and benefit deductions.
  • Address and resolve payroll discrepancies and employee inquiries.

Team Leadership :

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 3 accounting professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
  • Provide ongoing training and development opportunities to enhance team skills and capabilities.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews, setting clear goals and providing constructive feedback.

Compliance and Risk Management :

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations, including GAAP and local tax laws.
  • Identify and mitigate financial risks, implementing best practices in risk management and internal controls.
  • Stay updated on changes in financial regulations and ensure the company remains compliant.

System Improvements :

  • Evaluate and recommend improvements to financial systems and processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Lead or support the implementation of new financial software or tools as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA designation is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical or related industry is a strong asset.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, QuickBooks) and advanced Excel skills.
  • Strong knowledge of ASPE and financial reporting standards.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop a small team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
