Technical Writer - Senior

Responsibilities :
- Creates professional technical project and user documentation, including systems and operational procedures
- Experience in the creation of technical project and user documentation, including procedures at the specified experience level
- Experience with a wide range of technical writing methods, tools and techniques and knowledge of industry standards and best practices
- Knowledge and experience in developing on-line documentation
- Knowledge and experience with at least one platform
- Knowledge and experience with communications protocols
- Knowledge and experience with tools for the creation, distribution and maintenance of project and user documentation
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; presentation skills; and interpersonal skills
- Ability to communicate with cross functional teams (development, business, testers) and a wide range of audiences
- Ability to create a quick start guide covering the main steps a user will follow
- Ability to create a detailed configuration / administrative guide to users covering all details required
- Experience and ability to create a glossary or list of terms and definitions
- Experience with office automation suites, presentation tools, and at least one authoring package
- A team player with a track record for meeting deadlines
- Proficiency in English Knowledge and understanding of Accessibility for Ontarians with Disability Act (AODA) and related regulations and standards Skilled at using standard technical writing tools such as Microsoft Office and / or Adobe Technical Communication Suite
Qualifications :
- Knowledge, understanding and experience in publishing content on websites
- Strong interviewing and listening skills to capture necessary information
- Ability to learn and work with new graphic tools as required
- Ability to validate technical documentation and confirm documentation aligns with product functionality
- Ability to create feedback forms / tools to gather information from users
- Experienced in creating content and graphics that effectively communicate conceptual, procedural, and reference information for end-user administration, installation and configuration guides and online help
Must Haves :
- Experience with engaging business and IT stakeholders, understand requirements for new functionality or changes to existing ones and providing high level and detailed estimates
- Ability to write high quality business cases, working with corporate governance bodies and navigating approvals
- Experience with submitting and managing project collateral (conceptual and logical) in repository tools such as PowerDesigner
- Experience with reporting tools such as Microsoft Power BI
