The Licensed Mechanic will oversee the shop and maintain our fleet of trailers and farm equipment. Working with the Production Team and reporting to the Farm Manager, you will work diligently and efficiently on maintenance and repairs, managing apprentices and ensuring a safe work environment.
Quality workmanship and on-time completion is imperative to the operation as well as a communicative team player approach.
Job Duties :
- Repair and maintain fleet of farm equipment.
- Repair and maintain fleet of transport trailers. (includes preforming annual inspections)
- Ability to lead shop employees and apprentices and assign tasks.
- Lead and maintain Corporate Safety Standards.
- Work order completion for work accomplished.
- Utilize in-house parts and maintenance system.
- Repair and adjust hydraulic pumps, safety valves, and any other necessary mechanical components.
- Inspect, repair and adjust gasoline and diesel-powered units.
- Perform incidental welding operations on equipment.
- Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.
- Diagnose defects in heavy duty equipment.
- Perform mechanical repairs on equipment in the shop and road calls when required.
- Installation of new and added-on equipment.
- Accurate completion of work orders and timecards.
- Repair cooling, and lubrication systems.
- Install and align engines and machinery.
- Repair mechanical transmissions, drivetrains and final drives.
- Repair cable-operated working attachments, winches, compressors, pumps, electric generators, etc.
- Test repaired equipment for proper performance.
- Clean, lubricate and perform other maintenance work.
- Instruct apprentices.
- Keep detailed and accurate maintenance reports and documentation.
- Maintain a working knowledge of changes in technology and repair techniques.
Requirements :
- 301T license.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in automotive, trucking, or heavy machinery.
- Aptitude for costs and budgets.
- Positive, team player.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize workload.
- Be physically fit and able to repeatedly lift 50lbs.
- Hydraulic, welding, and electrical knowledge considered an asset.
- Experience in the agricultural industry an asset.
- Forklift certification considered an asset.
- Bilingualism an asset.
Working Conditions :
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Must be physically fit and able to meet the physical demands that include heavy lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs., standing, walking, pushing, kneeling and repetitive motion.
- Must be able to perform physical tasks for 8 or more hours a day.
- Ability for on call work and overtime as required.
