Job description
Adecco is currently hiring a Programmer/Software Developer for a 1-year contract opportunity in Ottawa, ON. If you enjoy developing innovative solutions, working with simulation and analysis tools, and supporting cutting-edge laboratory environments, this could be an exciting opportunity to join a highly technical team.
In this position, you will design, develop, test, and maintain software applications and tools that support laboratory simulations, data analysis, and hardware control systems while collaborating closely with technical personnel.
  • Pay Rate: $70,000 - $90,000 per year
  • Location: Ottawa, ON
  • Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
  • Employment Type: 1-Year Temporary Contract

Responsibilities
  • Learn and utilize simulation and analysis tools used within the laboratory environment.
  • Design detailed software programs, flowcharts, and system diagrams to control laboratory equipment, process data, and store results.
  • Translate software designs and flowcharts into coded instructions and collaborate with technical teams during program development.
  • Test software applications, validate program accuracy, and conduct system acceptance testing.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve software issues by revising code and optimizing program operations.
  • Document software architectures, data formats, flowcharts, and operating procedures.
  • Support simulation trial preparation, execution, and pre-trial analyses while producing reports and presentations.
  • Design and implement hardware control applications for sensors and laboratory measurement equipment.
  • Establish and maintain software configuration management processes.
  • Develop and maintain software documentation, including user guides and design documentation.
  • Provide knowledge transfer and training to personnel to ensure long-term operation, maintenance, and support of developed software and tools.
Qualifications
  • Must be legally eligible to work and reside in Canada.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or another discipline with significant programming coursework.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience as a Programmer or Software Developer.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of experience within the last ten (10) years in software design and implementation using C++ or another object-oriented programming language.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience within the last ten (10) years designing and implementing distributed applications.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Experience developing technical documentation, user manuals, and software architecture documentation.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience with software configuration management practices is considered an asset.
