The Ministry of Jobs, Economy, Trade and Immigration leads efforts to grow Alberta's economy by delivering strategic programs and services to support entrepreneurs and employers, attract skilled workers, promote trade and investment, and ensure a competitive business environment.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Manager, Regional Employer Supports, you will provide services to Lethbridge and regional communities such as Taber, Pincher Creek, Fort Macleod and Claresholm.
Build a regional network of stakeholders, including employers, employer associations, business networks, chambers of commerce, municipalities, and regional workforce development organizations.Empower stakeholders to identify and address workforce development challenges, including barriers to employee attraction and retention.Share information about employer support programs and services, such as grants or wage subsidies, and assist stakeholders in accessing them.Collect and share regional labour market information with both external stakeholders and internal GOA colleagues.Assess stakeholder requests against the scope of a Workforce Consultant and manage expectations on an ongoing basis.Maintain positive relationships, linkages, and partnerships with stakeholders in the region while collaborating with staff and project teams from other government departments.Communicate the impact of changes in Department and Government priorities clearly and effectively to stakeholders.Competencies

University graduation in a related field such as Business, Social Sciences, Human Resources, or Community Development plus four years of progressively responsible related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Equivalency is considered on the basis that one year of education equals one year of experience, or vice versa.
Experience building relationships and networks with stakeholders such as employers, business associations, and regional organizations.Knowledge of workforce development best practices and issues regarding employee attraction, recruitment, and retention.Knowledge of labour trends and regional labour markets in Alberta.Experience in project management.Ability to work with limited on-site management / supervision.Other Requirements
Some travel is required; a valid Class 5 driver’s license and a reliable vehicle or another approved method of reliable travel are required.Out-of-province applicants must obtain required documents and checks in their current province; associated costs are the candidate’s responsibility.The position is based in Lethbridge; other locations in southwest Alberta may be considered.Benefits
