POLE LOADING ANALYSIS (PLA) SPECIALIST
Build safe, buildable, construction-ready make-ready solutionsat scale.
Why this role
Encepta is growing our Pole Loading Analysis (PLA) team to meet increasing demand. This role is a great fit if you enjoy real-world problem-solving, working with field-derived inputs, and producing clean, defensible analysis packages. Were open to intermediate candidates who can contribute quickly, entry-level candidates with the right mindset, and senior candidatesincluding those interested in part-time work with coaching / mentorship focus.
What youll do
Your work will be primarily production (about 80%), with some time dedicated to quality and process improvement (about 20%). You will :
Complete pole loading analyses and make-ready solutions for joint-use attachments (telecom and utility environments)
Build accurate models from upstream inputs (IKE Office outputs, point clouds / measurements, photos, spans, attachments, and client standards)
Identify overloaded or non-compliant conditions and recommend practical, buildable make-ready solutions
Produce clear documentation and construction-ready notes / packages so downstream teams can act quickly
Participate in peer review and QA / QC; support escalation to P.Eng review when required
Provide feedback to field teams on input quality and whats needed to reduce rework
Contribute to improving templates, checklists, and workflow to increase throughput while protecting quality
Tools youll use
QuickPole (strongly preferred; primary for Alberta work)
SPIDAcalc (asset)
PLS-CADD (nice-to-have)
Familiarity with ArcGIS / Google Earth / CAD basics is an asset
What success looks like (first 90 days)
You can complete straightforward PLA files with consistent assumptions, clean documentation, and minimal rework
You quickly spot missing / incorrect inputs and communicate whats needed to resolve them
You follow established processes and quality standards consistently
You build strong working relationships with peers, reviewers, and project leads through clear, proactive communication

Were open to candidates on a Technician / Technologist track or an Engineer / EIT track. Direct PLA experience is an asset but not required for the right person.
Strongly preferred
Hands-on experience producing pole loading / make-ready outputs in QuickPole
Assets
Experience with SPIDAcalc and / or exposure to PLS-CADD
Familiarity with joint-use programs and working within utility / telecom standards
Understanding of field collection workflows (even if youre not collecting the data yourself)
Basic CAD / GIS comfort (e.g., ArcGIS navigation)
