Field Technician (Heavy Equipment or Automotive)

The Opportunity
Leavitt Machinery is looking for a mechanically inclined Field Technician (Heavy Equipment or Automotive Mechanic) to join our Service team in Brampton, Ontario . Reporting to the Service Manager, the Field Technician will be assigned to a variety of machinery repair tasks required by our loyal customers.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Diagnosing, repairing, and completing routine maintenance and safety inspections on a variety of material handling equipment and machinery
- Maintaining effective and consistent communication with the Service Dispatcher regarding ongoing Service jobs, and completing assigned tasks in a timely manner
- Discussing Service job details with customers and communicating a clear understanding of the job scope and repair requirements
- Communicating with the Parts department via phone and email to ensure required parts are ordered, and preparing required parts before visiting job sites
- Maintaining proper documentation where needed, including work order forms and warranty paperwork
- Reporting any safety incidents promptly and adhering to all safety policies
Required Skills & Qualifications
At least 5 years of heavy equipment or automotive repair experience in a related industryProvincial Heavy Duty or Automotive Journeyperson’s ticket or a Relevant Red Seal Trade Certification is a strong assetExperience with hydraulics and diagnosing and servicing electric engines is a strong assetPrevious aerial platform and lift truck experience an assetStrong communication skills, including the ability to partner effectively with external customers and internal stakeholdersExcellent problem-solving skills and strong aptitude for learning and applying mechanical and technical conceptsStrong work ethic and a positive attitudeHigh school diplomaValid driver’s license and ability to travel to customer sites in the region is requiredBenefits & Perks
