On March 12, Mon Sheong Radiothon 2026 hit the airwaves with an 11-hour live broadcast on Sing Tao A1 Chinese Radio. The event successfully raised over $270,000 for Mon Sheong Foundation’s “Because We Care” Capital Campaign, which supports the development of their new long-term care centres in Markham and Richmond Hill.
Mon Sheong Foundation expresses deep gratitude to all donors. Special acknowledgment is extended to Event Sponsors Concord Adex and Medisystem Pharmacy, as well as Power Match Sponsors Toronto Hong Kong Lions Club and The Chow Family. The Foundation also appreciates the immense support of their Big Hearted Donors and fundraising teams, including Markham Mon Sheong Court, Richmond Hill Mon Sheong Court, Scarborough Mon Sheong Court, Michael Wong and Barbara Lee, CCAA Team, Christopher Ho, Toronto Unity Lions Club, Daniel Hung, Janet Lee, and two anonymous donors, etc. Their collective contributions allowed the Radiothon to far exceed its original $220,000 target.
Event Co-Chairs and Board Members of Mon Sheong Foundation Michael Wong and Andrew Ho state, “In the midst of global economic uncertainty, it is heart-warming to see the Radiothon garner such generous support. As our population ages, the Foundation has ramped up the construction of new long-term care centres in recent years to meet the pressing need for long-term care in our community.”
Mon Sheong Markham Long-Term Care Centre has now entered its final phase of construction. The structure is fully topped out, with interior outfitting and finishing currently underway. This 11-storey facility is expected to be completed by mid-2026, providing 320 beds. Applications will be open once the facility is officially listed with Ontario Health atHome. Construction of their second long-term care home in Richmond Hill is slated for completion by late 2027, adding another 288 care beds. Upon completion of these two new projects, Mon Sheong’s total capacity will reach 1,609 care beds—a crucial expansion of 608 beds to ease community demand.
The success of the Radiothon provides pivotal support for the ongoing efforts in building new long-term care centres and sustain the mission in caring for the elderly. With many exciting developments ahead, Mon Sheong Foundation hopes that the public will continue to support the joint effort in championing long-term care for those in need.
