Marine Biologist – Intermediate to Senior

A well-established and growing environmental consulting firm in the Lower Mainland is seeking an Intermediate to Senior Marine Biologist to join its Marine Services team. The company is known for its supportive culture, strong employee engagement, and competitive compensation and benefits.

Compensation & Benefits:

• Salary range: $100,000–$130,000

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and support marine biological assessments, impact studies, and habitat restoration work.

• Plan and conduct field surveys such as habitat mapping, species inventories, and water quality monitoring.

• Analyze data and prepare high-quality technical reports and recommendations for clients and regulators.

• Manage project budgets, schedules, and deliverables while working with multidisciplinary teams.

• Provide guidance and technical expertise to junior staff.

• Liaise with clients, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders to ensure compliance and project success.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Degree in Marine Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related discipline (M.Sc. an asset).

• Registered or eligible for registration as a Professional Biologist.

• 8+ years of relevant experience, ideally within environmental consulting.

• Strong knowledge of marine ecosystems, regulatory frameworks, and environmental assessment processes.

• Experience with marine construction monitoring, water quality sampling, biophysical surveys, ROV or underwater video surveys, species-at-risk assessments, fish habitat evaluations, underwater noise monitoring, and marine mammal observing.

• Experience preparing or acting as the professional of record on technical reports required for environmental approvals, including management plans, impact assessments, monitoring plans, and construction monitoring documentation.

• Experience in marine fieldwork; diving or remote sensing experience is an asset.

• Excellent technical writing skills and experience preparing detailed reports and permit applications.

• Strong project management abilities and leadership skills.

• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to project sites.
