Job Title : Senior Cloud Ops Engineer

Senior Cloud Ops Engineer - AWS, Terraform, GitHub, Azure Type : Full Time

Location : Toronto (Hybrid)

Notes : This is a senior position and team lead and mentoring experience is required

Requirements :

  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in Cloud Ops Engineering.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in coding with real-world exposure to Terraform, AWS, GitHub, and Ansible.
  • Highly desirable AWS certifications.
  • Proven experience in championing DevOps culture and best practices.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills are essential.

Primary Responsibilities :

  • Cultivate a culture of DevOps excellence and implement best practices within the team.
  • Collaborate seamlessly with diverse, cross-functional teams, including Development, Enterprise IT, Enterprise Architecture, and Service Delivery.
  • Spearhead the migration of legacy products to advanced cloud hosting platforms, with a primary focus on AWS.
  • Offer strategic technical guidance on the future landscape of cloud architecture for the long term.
  • Participate in on-call rotations, promptly responding to critical incidents and facilitating effective remediation.
  • Provide mentorship on Agile, Scrum, and Lean methodologies to team members.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, leveraging automation and optimizing processes.
  • Exhibit technical leadership in managing tools and platforms within the team.
  • Educate and mentor team members unfamiliar with contemporary Cloud architecture.
  • Deliver regular and insightful reports to management covering project status, technical debt, and work items.
  • Contribute significantly to the onboarding and training of new and junior team members.

Skills and Competencies :

  • Develop and sustain scalable, reliable, and secure cloud infrastructure on AWS, utilizing Terraform.
  • Automate deployment, scaling, and management processes through tools such as Terraform, Ansible, etc.
  • Establish and maintain robust CI / CD pipelines to facilitate swift and secure code deployments.
  • Implement effective monitoring solutions using AWS CloudWatch, Prometheus, and Grafana.
  • Ensure strict adherence to security best practices and compliance standards.
  • Design and implement strategies for disaster recovery, ensuring high availability.
  • Drive ongoing training and personal development initiatives, actively pursuing relevant Cloud and DevOps certifications.
