Hiring : Senior Payroll Specialist (18-Month Contract)
Are you a payroll expert who thrives in complex, large-scale environments?
We are looking for a dedicated Senior Payroll Specialist to join our team for an 18-month contract starting this February.
While this role is initially covering a leave of absence, there is a possibility for it to transition into a permanent position.
Compensation & Certification
Salary Range : $44.00 – $63.00 per hour (commensurate with experience).
Certification Requirement : Must be PCP (Payroll Compliance Professional) qualified through the National Payroll Institute.
The PLP Advantage : Candidates holding a Payroll Leadership Professional (PLP) certificate are highly preferred and will be eligible for the higher end of the wage scale ($60+).
What You’ll Do
Mass-Scale Processing : Manage full-cycle payroll for a workforce of 2,000+ employees.
Complex Portfolios : Oversee payroll for Police and Municipality divisions, navigating high-turnover, seasonal worker cycles, and STD / LTD claims.
Union & Benefits : Handle complex Union payroll and Defined Pension / Benefit administration.
What You Bring
Superior Excel Skills : Mandatory. Expert-level ability to manipulate large data sets and perform complex reconciliations.
Software Expertise : Strong proficiency in PeopleSoft. (SAP users may apply but must be prepared for a steep learning curve).
Industry Experience : Prior experience in a municipality or public sector environment is a significant asset.
Timeline
Start Date : February.
Contract Length : 18 months.
Transition : Comprehensive onboarding and hand- of period will be provide.
