Role Summary
The overall objective of this function is to support the supplier risk team to effectively and efficiently monitor, analyse and communicate risk levels within the Magna supplier base in order to ensure an uninterrupted flow of supplies for our production.
The Analyst will work closely with other members of the vendor risk management team to support the effective use of the databases utilized in the supplier risk assessment process.
In addition to working with established databases, a key outcome for this position will be to gain a broad understanding of Magna’s supplier base as it applies to the vendor risk management function, with a view to developing into the position into that of a professional risk analyst capable of conducting supplier risk reviews independently and efficiently.
In general, the Analyst maintains the integrity of supplier risk platforms, databases and systems using tools and reporting structures established by the Vice President, VRM.
The Analyst is the initial contact with all direct suppliers in the scheduling of financial reviews with the VRM team. As well, with appropriate mentorship, professional judgement and support from the VRM team, the Analyst will execute and communicate supplier risk reviews.
The Analyst reports directly to the Regional Manager, Vendor Risk Management.
Key Responsibilities
- Contacts and coordinates directly with vendors to schedule reviews with the VRM team;
- With appropriate training, mentorship and support, conducts reviews as assigned;
- Reports reviews completed in compliance with the established global processes & standards;
- Is ever mindful of the spirit of departmental objectives & demonstrates a positive example of professional conduct, approach, behaviour;
- Facilitates coordination with multiple regions, our customers and suppliers;
- Works with large, disparate datasets and supports primary data management, which includes data cleansing, maintenance and analysis, as well as developing analytic solutions;
- Collects, maintains and aggregates regional risk management data to build and maintain dashboard tools in support of critical business decisions;
- Supports routine monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting processes supporting visibility of vendor risk management performance and resource planning decisions for VRM Management;
- Explores and recommends deployment of technology-based solutions to design scalable workflows and, where practical, tools to automate processes that would otherwise be manual and time-consuming;
- Adapts existing methods and procedures to recommend and implement possible alternative solutions to moderately complex problems;
- and executes initiatives for process optimization and organizational efficiency related to data management, advanced analytics, and reporting;
- Ensures compliance with the departmental Bluebook (departmental operational reference) and all Magna Policies while strictly observing confidentiality;
- Demonstrates commitment to ongoing professional development by completing relevant continuing professional education activities on a regular basis;
- Provides consistent regional and global support to Magna family stakeholders and suppliers, fostering good working relationships;
- Assists with other various ad-hoc and cross-functional vendor risk management projects as identified.
Key Qualifications / Requirements
- Background in Accounting / Finance with a minimum of three years experience
- Training and or experience in key manufacturing elements such as quality, logistics, trade, tooling, and processes (an asset)
- Advanced experience in Microsoft Office
- Strong and courteous communication skills in both verbal and written English is required
- Secondary language(s) such as German, Spanish and or Chinese is an asset
- Strong analytical skills in assessing risks from the information provided
- Ability to manage confidential information discretely
- Ability to maintain a professional and courteous manner with our suppliers in a potentially adversarial environment
- Ability to interact with all Magna Groups in a timely and collegial manner
- Effectiveness in working both independently and as a team member
- Willingness to support changes necessary to develop the department as a word class function
