Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Disability Consultant to join our team.

As a Senior Disability Management Consultant, you will partner closely with Account Executive Benefit Consultants and clients to provide subject matter expertise surrounding plan design and best in class practices surrounding disability benefit and absence management programs.

The incumbent will also spearhead bespoke client initiatives including audits, program reviews and data analytics reviews which will be tailored to each individual client needs.

Ongoing development and growth of newer team members is also expected from the incumbent of this role. The incumbent will work alongside leading disability experts to create, implement and maintain cutting edge solutions.

The Senior Disability Consultant will :

  • In partnership with leadership the incumbent will be responsible for ongoing training of new hires.
  • Analyze reports to provide recommendations and best in class options designed to enhance the client offering.
  • Handle incoming inquiries from clients, sales consultants / brokers and other staff in a timely manner. Conduct follow-ups when necessary.
  • Partner with clients to obtain clear guidelines surrounding project scope and anticipated deliverables.
  • Provides customer service support to the organization by obtaining, analyzing, and verifying the accuracy of information in a timely manner.
  • Attend meetings with multiple stake holders, projecting a professional and knowledgeable outlook of all matters disability management related.
  • Initiate required action for response to customer service requests within time requirements.
  • Initiates and / or implements corrective action as needed to ensure that an excellent standard of service and a high level of customer satisfaction are maintained.
  • Address escalated issues when required to the satisfaction of the client.
  • Obtaining Additional information from client when asked by the carrier.

To be successful as a Senior Disability Consultant with People Corporation, you will need :

  • 10+ years industry knowledge and experience in Disability Management or combination of experience and education.
  • You have a registered professional status within the disability management or professional health sector along with additional course work in occupational health, rehabilitation, legislation related to disability management, human resource management, or disability insurance.
  • Experience partnering with Third Party Providers to affect positive change.
  • You are willing and able to be an advocate for employer / employee vs. carriers.
  • You have a good understanding of benefit administration systems.
  • You are detailed and systems oriented.
  • You are a proactive professional, always willing to be on the top of emerging best practices for your areas of responsibility.
  • Research focused and an analytical mindset to question the information provided to address underlaying concerns.
  • You have strong multi-tasking and organizational skills.
  • You actively embrace and manage change.
  • You have a high level of productivity while ensuring standards are upheld.

All-star candidates will have :

  • CDMP or NIDMAR would be an asset.
  • Labour relations experience and / or education would be an asset.
  • Experience in training / mentoring junior staff.
  • Polished and well developed oral and written communication skills.
  • Self-starter attitude and ability to work individually and as part of a team.
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills, particularly in Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Availability to travel on an as needed basis.
