Associate Legal Counsel, Commercial Leasing

Our client is a global leader in real estate management, offeringprehensive solutions for all types of real estate assets.
They own and operate some of the most distinguished and prominent properties in Toronto. They are looking for amercial Leasing Lawyer (office / retail) to join their in-house legal team on a permanent, full-time basis and handle their portfolio in eastern Canada.
The successful candidate will report to the Senior Vice-President, Legal, and will have excellent academic qualifications and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work in-office on a daily basis.
Our client’s office is conveniently situated on the PATH in Downtown Toronto, within walking distance from Union Station, allowing for an easymute.
Your new role
As Associate Counsel,mercial Leasing, your primary duties will include :
- Primarily draft, review, negotiate and finalizemercial leasing documentation
- Assist with acquisition, sales, development and financing of properties
- Review, negotiate and revise operational contracts
- Provide accurate and timely legal advice
- Control, update, revise and implement standard lease documents. Responsible for recording accurate information in Yardi and lease summaries for dealspleted.
- Assist with and direct as required the development, implementation and maintenance of Lease Administration tools
- Retain, instruct and manage third party providers of legal services
- Supervise, assist and mentor other team members as required, such as senior law clerks and lease administrators, including reviewing and approving work

What you'll need to succeed
To succeed in this role, you should have the following qualifications :
- Licensed lawyer in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario
- 3 6 years post call experience in the practice ofmercial leasing law (office / retail) in a law firm or in-house legal department.
- Bachelor of Law or JJD
- Software : Advanced experience with Microsoft Word, Outlook and strong working knowledge of Excel and display confidence with technology.
- Excellentmunication and organizational skills.
- Must be able to work both in a team environment and independently in a deadline-driven environment.
- Self-motivated, detail-orientated with strong initiative, and analytical skills.
- Multitasking, problem-solving and prioritization skills are critical to this role.
