The company, a national IT consulting company, is seeking a Senior Data Architect to lead a high‑impact strategic data initiative for a major public‑sector organization. This engagement focuses on assessing the current data landscape, defining a future‑state vision, and developing a comprehensive, technology‑agnostic data roadmap that will guide enterprise‑level decision‑making, analytics modernization, and data governance transformation.This is a role for someone who thrives at the intersection of architecture, strategy, analytics, and stakeholder engagement, and who can translate complex data ecosystems into clear, actionable pathways for organizational change. Responsibilities :
- Lead the assessment of current data architecture, data flows, integration patterns, and data management practices.
- Define a target state data architecture aligned with organizational goals, national frameworks, and modern data management principles.
- Develop a phased, costed, and prioritized data roadmap covering governance, analytics, visualization, data management, and human resource capacity.
- Conduct interviews and workshops with executive leaders, operational teams, analytics groups, IT stakeholders, and external partners.
- Translate diverse stakeholder needs into architectural requirements and strategic recommendations.
- Present findings, recommendations, and roadmap components to leadership and governance committees.
- Perform gap analysis and root cause analysis across the data value chain.
- Contribute to multi criteria decision analysis and prioritization frameworks.
- Provide expert input on data governance, interoperability, metadata management, and data quality considerations.
- Work closely with project management, governance specialists, analytics SMEs, and change management advisors.
- Serve as the primary technical and strategic lead for all deliverables.
- Ensure alignment across architecture, governance, analytics, and organizational design components.
Requirements :
10+ years of experience in data architecture, enterprise data strategy, or data platform design.Deep understanding of modern data architectures, such as data lakehouse, event driven integration, and API based interoperability.Strong knowledge of data governance frameworks, metadata management, and data quality practices.Experience working with structured and unstructured data across multiple systems.Experience delivering data strategies, roadmaps, or enterprise data assessments in complex environments.Public sector or healthcare experience is a strong asset (multiple facilities, diverse programs, unionized environments, shared services, etc.).Familiarity with Canadian data privacy legislation and public sector governance models is an advantage.Proven ability to lead strategic engagements and produce high quality deliverables.Exceptional communication skills, able to translate technical concepts for non technical audiences.Strong facilitation skills and comfort engaging with senior executives and cross functional teams.Ability to work independently, manage timelines, and drive outcomes in a structured consulting environment.Must be able to work remotely with occasional travel if required (rare).Preference for candidates with experience in data roadmap development within the last 3 years.If you have this expertise, and are able to work in Canada, please submit your resume.
