Environmental Scientist
Responsibilities
and Key Accountabilities
- A strong understanding and focus on health and safety in the workplace
- Various types of fieldwork including but not limited to surface water / groundwater monitoring and sampling, drilling, test pitting, remedial excavations, and reclamation
- Subcontractor management, logging / texturing soils and operating various types of environmental related field equipment
- Collection of accurate field data using best practices and following standard operating procedures
- Support and assist Project Managers in all aspects of project execution including coordination and procurement of project supplies and subcontractor services
- Preparation and execution of technical reports
- Mentorship and training of new and junior staff
- Travel within Alberta and potentially British Columbia
Qualifications
- University Degree or Technical Diploma from accredited institution, plus appropriate continuing education
- Minimum of 1 years’ experience in assessment, remediation, and monitoring in the field of environmental consulting
- Excellent time management skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work effectively independently or as part of a team
- Class 5 driver’s license
- Experience in either the oil and gas industry or mining is considered an asset
- Ability to work challenging and potentially extended hours under varying weather conditions
- Working toward professional registration / certification or recently certified
- Proficient use of Microsoft Word and Excel
