Senior Parts Engineer Located in one of our Ontario locations, Canada (Hybrid)
About the Opportunity
Westinghouse Electric Canada is a leading supplier of custom equipment, process systems and engineering consultant services for the Nuclear industry in Canada.
The successful candidate will join an innovative team that supports Westinghouse’s mission to provide clean energy solutions.
CANDU spare parts is one of Westinghouse Electric Canada’s fastest growing segments . As part of our growing team, the successful candidate will be the single point of contact for the Parts organization on both bids and proposals and execution of related opportunities.
This position will feature constant exposure to first-of-a-kind supply opportunities and unique challenges through a wide variety of opportunities for our customers.
What will you do?
Your day to day :
- Review customer RFQ / RFP for scopes requiring engineering support
- Lead the estimating process for engineering scope, interfacing with management as needed to solicit approvals.
- Provide guidance to Purchasing on technical requirements, including interpretation of customer supplied technical information, drawings, specifications etc.
- Perform technical evaluations of material substitutions
- Work closely with the dedicated Parts team including Program Management, Quality Assurance, Purchasing, Customer Solutions Management, Inside Sales
- Upon award of a contract, execute smaller discrete engineering scopes, including but not limited to Design Activities TSSA registration packages Selection of N299 Quality Assurance Level

Required :
- Licensed member of Professional Engineers Ontario (Mechanical Engineering)
- 6+ years of relevant experience
- Eligible to become an ASME Appendix 23 Certifying Engineer
- Experienced in pressure retaining systems to CSA and ASME design codes.
- Experience in Preparing and approving design registration packages for pressure retaining systems and components for CANDU nuclear power plants.
- Experience in conceptual design development, design reviews and engineering change control processes.
- Experience in interpretation of customer technical requirements (drawings, specifications, RFP / RFQ)
- Understanding of manufacturing and inspection techniques
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and comfortable leading meetings and giving presentations
- Strong interpersonal skills, including technical resolution of issues and providing technical leadership.
- Experience interfacing with customer representatives and providing oversight of vendors.
Preferred :
- Application of the relevant codes and standards applicable to the design of nuclear components and systems including specialized tooling and remote handling equipment
- Experience with software such as Solid Works, Autodesk Inventor and ANSYS(FEA)
- Experience interfacing with purchasing / supply chain and also providing oversight of vendors
