Overview :

Our client is a rapidly growing clean technology company that has developed a reputation of attracting world class talent to help design and manufacture their market proven products.

The are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer with experience with rotating equipment in large capital projects, and ideally some carbon capture experience / knowledge to join their dynamic team.

The successful candidate will lead and contribute to the design, development, and implementation of innovative rotating equipment mechanical systems and components within commercial scale carbon capture plants.

The Senior Mechanical Engineer will be the single point of contact representing the mechanical discipline during different stages of a project.

As a key member of our client's engineering team, the Senior Mechanical Engineer will play a pivotal role in development of deliverables for equipment packages, provide technical assurance, and ensuring the highest levels of quality and performance.

The Senior Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for all project-related mechanical engineering deliverables of our client's licensing technology package including mechanical data-sheets, general plant layout and input to project capital / operational cost.

Responsibilities :

  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including process engineers, electrical engineers, and product designers to integrate mechanical components into overall system deliverables such as data-sheets, P&ID's
  • During specific project become familiar with the asset specifically utility systems, pipelines, plant layout
  • Review mechanical engineering deliverables and provides technical assurance during FEL-2, FEL-3 and execution.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to junior engineers and project teams, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Evaluate and select materials, equipment manufacturer, to optimize cost, quality, and manufacturability.
  • Works closely with EPC partners and the project team in development of our client's deliverables
  • Attend and actively participate in meetings as the primary mechanical engineering representative on the project team and build relationships with EPC mechanical and civil / structural engineering counterparts
  • Generate and review technical documentation including specifications, drawings, and reports to communicate design concepts and requirements.
  • Ensures all aspects of a design meet specified regulations.
  • Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and project planning meetings to ensure alignment with project goals and timelines.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in mechanical engineering, contributing to the advancement of our technical capabilities
  • Carry out other related tasks and projects as required by the Project Delivery department.
  • Uphold the highest standards of professionalism, ethics, and safety in all aspects of work, promoting a culture of collaboration, integrity, and excellence.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field, Professional Engineering designation preferred.
  • Experience : Minimum 10 years of experience in mechanical engineering.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical principles, materials science
  • Experience in the specification of both static and rotating mechanical equipment
  • Experience in specification and design of low-pressure ducting, compressors, steam generation unit and heat exchangers
  • Observes health & safety and security procedures and demonstrates safety-based behaviour culture.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading complex mechanical engineering projects from concept to execution
  • Understanding of construction, commissioning and startup activities
  • Experience in project design practices, including risk assessment and mitigations, understanding P&IDs, PFDs, ISO’s, pressure vessels and fired equipment design
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with a demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical challenges
  • Expertise in CAD software
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Passion for innovation, continuous learning, and staying at the forefront of advancements in mechanical engineering
  • Critical thinking skills and good judgment.
  • Proven track record of delivering results in challenging project environments.
  • Adaptable to change.
  • Demonstrated written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to develop and deliver presentations.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Salary Range : $110,000-$145,000

Please note that the compensation for this full time permanent role will commensurate with experience, and may fall outside of the listed range.
