Senior Staff Accountant Toronto

We require the Senior Staff Accountant to be an excellent communicator, be the office leader in Excel, tax and accounting software and possess a strong client service focus with an ability to be client facing.
You must possess a working knowledge of Canadian taxation and GAAP.
Job Overview
As Senior Staff Accountant you will provide full cycle accounting, tax filing services and supporting schedules, Family Office quarterly reporting (including net worth statements, customized portfolio, and performance reports,
Responsibilities
- Notice to Reader file preparation, note disclosures and Financial Statements for investment holding companies, small Canadian operating companies, trusts and charitable foundations, including review of general ledgers, preparation of reconciliation reports and preparation of journal entries and working papers
- Preparation of Quarterly Family Office Reporting including net worth statements, investment portfolio detail and quarterly performance reports.
- Preparation of T1 personal tax, T2 corporation tax, T3 intervivos trust and estate tax, and T5 returns
- Calculation of Capital Dividend Account (CDA) balances, General Rate Income Pool (GRIP) Balances and Refundable Dividend Tax on Hand (RDTOH) balances
- Preparation of T3010 Charity Returns and GST / HST returns
- Preparation of T1135 foreign income verification disclosures
- Preparation of paralegal corporation minutes and resolutions
- Preparation and filing of T4 summary and supplementary forms including payroll calculations, records of employment and remittance of at source deductions
- Calculation of tax estimates and annual tax instalments and coordination of remittances to respective governments
- Review of Notices of Assessment and response to government Requests for Information (RFI)
- Communication with clients and third parties respect to preparing or gathering information and concerning remittances, instalments, progress of files, inquiries
Competencies
- Strong working knowledge of Canadian GAAP.
- Full-cycle Canadian accounting experience
- Advanced computer skills : Modeling using Microsoft Excel (MACROS) and MS Outlook, VBA is an asset.
- Experienced with accounting and tax software applications : Tax Prep (T1, T2, T3), Caseview, Quickbooks, Quicken and Write-up.
- Proven ability to analyze problems and prepare effective written and oral reports; communicate clearly and concisely with clients;
Self-starter and team player, able to work independently and collaboratively with various teams in a deadline-focused environment
- Comprehensive oral and written communication skills with an ability to produce concise clear reports, letters and emails.
- Strong organizational skills with a proven ability to handle multiple priorities and manage projects to timely conclusion
Education and Experience
- CPA designation possessing a minimum of 3+ years’ experience in full accounting cycle;
- Public accounting experience including the preparation of Canadian personal / corporate tax returns and the compilation of Financial Statements.
Remuneration
$85,000-$95,000 + $10,000 retention bonus (if you stay the full term of the contract)
