The Information Technology Department provides information technology expertise and professional services to all City departments, affiliated agencies (Barrie Public Library, Barrie Police Services) and area municipalities receiving Barrie fire dispatch services.
The Department is responsible for delivering, administering, managing and supporting (in partnership with the business units) all data and voice communications, including but not limited to network infrastructure, servers, storage infrastructure, printers, computing infrastructure, applications and software, databases, web services, geographic information systems, and project and portfolio management.
The Department provides daily technology support to over 1100 users at more than 40 City locations across the City.
The Systems Analyst (ACCELA) is responsible for developing, administering, securing, and supporting the City’s information system applications, with a focus on the permitting and application processing system.
This role also includes providing problem resolution to ensure efficient and effective use of these systems in alignment with corporate and departmental needs.
The Systems Analyst fosters positive working relationships with staff, customers, other municipalities, agencies, and vendors.
Key requirements for this position are as follows :
- Experience in analyzing business requirements and translating them into detailed technical designs
- Strong experience with workflow and approval systems processes
- Production experience with JavaScript and SQL is mandatory.

Four (4) year University Degree in Computer Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or related discipline

Experience
- Five (5) years of experience performing duties related to the above mentioned major responsibilities
- Demonstrated experience in an information technology portfolio developing, supporting, and managing business system
- Demonstrated experience in disaster recovery, high availability, virtualization and mobile technologies

Availability, on a rotational basis, to assist with after-hours questions, concerns, or emergencies; to attend evening / weekend meetings or special events;
or to work outside of designated normal hours per week
Conditions of Employment
- Valid Ontario Class G Driver’s Licence in good standing with a reliable vehicle for use on corporate business
