Position : Host, Marilena Cafe and Raw Bar
Reports to : Restaurant Director
Marilena features local and global seafood paired with high-quality sustainable ingredients that adhere to the highest standards.
Our front-of-house team, led by Restaurant Director Aaron Matsuzaki, is passionate about delivering an unparalleled level of hospitality set within Marilena’s warm, contemporary dining room anchored by an open concept kitchen.
JOB SUMMARY :
Our Hosts have a genuine passion for hospitality and are an integral part of our restaurant; being an ambassador to our standards and culture.
By consistently providing a warm welcome and great service, the Host provides a first and last impression to our guests
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
Other duties may be assigned as required)
- Create a positive guest experience that begins with a friendly greeting and warm smile
- Accurately take reservations that optimize each service period
- Efficiently maintain and organize restaurant by managing guest flow while maximizing seating capacity
- Escort guests to their table, engage them in conversation and seat them accordingly
- Recognize and acknowledge repeat guests
- Maintain knowledge of menu items, table numbers and server sections
- Provide a strong level of communication with both the guest and staff members
- Support service staff where needed
- Anticipates guest needs, providing direct assistance where possible
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS :
- 2+ years’ experience in a similar high-volume fine dining role
- Strong communication skills both verbal and written
- Positive, energetic and enthusiastic outlook and personality
- Professional presentation
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- Well organized and strong time management skills
- Proactive self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment
- Work well within a team environment
- Ability to be on your feet for long periods of time
- Able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
