Duties

A Cabin Safety / Aviation Occupational Health and Safety Inspector performs a variety of duties during the course of their work.

Cabin Safety oversees commercial and private air operators to ensure operations are conducted safely and in accordance with the Aeronautics Act and the Canadian Aviation Regulations.

Daily tasks can include conducting planned and reactive inspections to ensure compliance with the Canadian Aviation Regulations, evaluation of operator submissions, evaluate and recommend the issuance or denial of exemptions from the Canadian Aviation Regulations, and participate in working groups as required.

Cabin Safety Inspectors also provide technical guidance on cabin safety regulations to other government departments, agencies, industry, and the general public.

Aviation Occupational Health and Safety oversees the compliance to the Canada Labour Code Part II, and to the Aviation Occupational Health and Safety Regulations, of air operators in respect to their onboard employees.

This is achieved through industry outreach, inspections with air operators, and includes investigations of workplace injuries and fatalities.

EDUCATIONS

ED : Successful completion of post-secondary education, or an acceptable combination* of education and experience.

Note : Acceptable combination is defined as successful completion of a secondary school education AND minimum two years of experience as a flight attendant manager, cabin safety developer and / or instructor in safety and emergency procedures with a Canadian air operator

EX1 : Significant and recent* experience in at least one of the following areas for a

Canadian Air Operator :

• o Manager or supervisor of flight attendants ;
• o an instructor of flight attendants in safety and emergency procedures;

o the development of an air operators flight attendant safety and emergency

procedures.

Note : Significant is defined as a minimum of two years, and recent is defined as within seven years.

Note : Flight Attendant In-charge experience is not considered equivalent supervisory experience.

ASSET EXPERIENCES

AEX1 : Experience working with the Aviation Occupational Health and Safety Regulations.

AEX2 : Experience as a Flight Attendant Manager for a Canadian Air Operator.

AEX3 : Experience in development of training programs in an aviation environment.

AEX4 : Experience working on aircraft as a qualified flight attendant with 50 or less passenger seats, and / or experience working on aircraft as a qualified flight attendant with more than 50 passenger seats.

AEX5 : Experience on Occupational Health and Safety Committees or as an Occupational Health and Safety Representative, working with the Canada Labour Code Part II.

AEX6 : Experience conducting hazardous occurrence investigations.

AEX7 : Experience in conducting audits or evaluations of compliance.

AEX8 : Experience in managing projects.

AEX9 : Experience in conducting training and information briefings.

AEX10 : Experience in developing or evaluating Management Systems.

AEX11 : Experience in applying risk management concepts and principles.

AEX12 : Experience in using a computer for word processing, email and internet.

How does an inventory work?

Why was my application automatically rejected when I submitted it?

What does "Registered in the inventory" mean?

This automatically generated message by the system means that your application can be considered. You will be informed in the event that your application is considered as part of a process generated from this inventory.

What happens if my application expires?

Your application will be kept in the inventory for 90 days. A notice will be posted in the "My Job File" menu of your account 14 days before your application expires.

If you do not take this into account, your application will be deactivated and it will no longer be considered for submissions from this inventory.
