Litigation Law Clerk
Salary : Up to $135K
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all aspects of routine litigation proceedings
- Responsible for preparation of affidavits of documents, refusals, motions.
- Drafting and enforcing orders, including garnishments, and perfecting appeals.
- Conduct preliminary due diligence investigations through to judgment and enforcement.
- Support Civil and Commercial litigation cases at all levels of court in Ontario and the Supreme Court of Canada, including tribunals.
- Manage project documentation for submission of large multi-billion dollar construction dispute
- Consult with client on a regular basis to organize submissions through client Sharepoint
- Collect, organized and manage client data using iManage and eDiscovery platform, DISCO
- Collaborate with partners and senior associates on revising, proofreading and finalizing witness affidavits with exceptional attention to detail
- Manage dispute submission deadlines using Outlook and shared calendars
Qualifications
- 5+ years of law clerk experience in the area of litigation, with a focus on construction or infrastructure.
- Experience with class action files is an asset.
- Successful completion of a related post-secondary Law Clerk program.
- Experience with iManage, Outlook, and eDiscovery platform, DISCO is an asset.
- Knowledge of legal terminology, court rules and procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and superior word processing, spelling, proofreading and editing skills.
- Strong time management, organizational and multi-tasking skills and ability to work under pressure to meet important deadlines.
- Ability to follow-up on files and delays with minimal supervision.
- High level of discretion and confidentiality.
