Senior Litigation Law Clerk
Salary : Up to $120K (Based on Experience)
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct in-depth legal research.
- Draft and prepare a variety of litigation documents, including pleadings, motions, briefs, and discovery requests.
- Review and summarize depositions, discovery materials, and other case-related documents.
- Organize and maintain client files.
- Track court dates, deadlines, and other critical case milestones, ensuring timely follow-up and action.
- Assist and support in trial preparation.
- Liaise with expert witnesses and coordinate their involvement.
- Collaborate with legal teams to execute eDiscovery processes, including data identification, preservation, collection, processing, review, and production using IPRO and Reveal.
- Load processed data into eDiscovery databases and assist in the review and analysis of electronically stored information (ESI).
- Apply case-specific coding and conduct searches within eDiscovery platforms to identify relevant documents for legal review.
- Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory standards throughout the eDiscovery process, maintaining strict adherence to data integrity and confidentiality.
- Utilize litigation support tools and software, including iManage (DMS), ACL (Automated Civil Litigation), IPRO, and Reveal.
- Troubleshoot issues related to document management and eDiscovery software, collaborating with IT and external vendors as necessary.
- Stay informed about advancements in litigation support technologies and contribute to the firm’s efforts to implement new tools and processes.
- Communicate with clients to gather information, provide updates on case progress, and respond to inquiries under the supervision of the Managing Partner and lawyers.
- Maintain client confidentiality and ensure all interactions are conducted professionally and with discretion.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 7+ years in a litigation law clerk role, preferably within a law firm or legal department.
- Law Clerk designation from the Institute of Law Clerks of Ontario (ILCO). Certification in eDiscovery CEDS) or related technical skills is an asset.
- Proficiency in using IPRO, Reveal, litigation software (ACL), and document management systems (iManage), or the demonstrated aptitude to quickly learn and use these tools.
- Excellent organizational abilities with a keen attention to detail and the capacity to manage multiple tasks.
- Strong research and analytical skills with the ability to handle complex legal issues and large data sets.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact confidently with clients, lawyers, and IT professionals.
