Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to :
- Attending employer orientation workshops; attending mandatory employer training.
- Invigilating tests and exams
- Maintaining academic integrity by strictly adhering to the University’s regulations, policies, and procedures regarding tests / exams;
- Maintaining confidentiality of student and test / exam information;
- Setting up exam rooms and keeping test / exam rooms organized;
- Documenting any incidents during tests / exam and reporting incidents to professor
- Preparing completed exams for pick-up / delivery;
- Any other duties assigned.
This posting is for in-person exams, which will operate according to COVID-19 protocols outlined in the .
Invigilators are expected to provide at least 5 hours of availability per week. Due to fluctuating demand, and the impacts of COVID-19, the department cannot guarantee a certain number of hours each week.
Invigilators should expect less hours during January and June to September.
2 Hours / Term Performing invigilation duties for mid-term or final exams as required.
2 Estimated Total Hours of Work*
Note that this is a positive hours contract, and hours are paid out according to hours worked. A timesheet must be signed by your supervisor and submitted via email to the department administrator in order to be paid.
Actual hours may vary at offer time dependent on qualifications and determined rate of pay. Employees can work up to a maximum of 130 hours per semester or 390 hours per academic.
Employees shall not be guaranteed work and when not on assignment they shall not receive any pay or payment in lieu of benefits.
Qualifications
Qualifications
- Previous evaluation of performance as an Invigilator at the University (if applicable).
- Enrolled in : 1st year Masters, 2nd year Masters or PhD
- Greater preference will be accorded first to Doctoral candidates, then Master's candidates.
The job is posted in accordance with the CUPE 3902 Unit 1 Collective Agreement. Preference will be given to graduate students enrolled in either a Master’s or PhD program at TMU University.
Invigilators will supervise the writing of tests and exams for the general TMU student population.
Required skills include :
- Oral and written communication skills. Invigilators should be able to provide clear, concise, and factual reports in business English.
- Ability to handle emergency situations effectively
- Able to manage stressful situations with accuracy and attention to detail
- Excellent organizational skills
- Understanding of TMU University test / exam policies and procedures
- Punctuality and reliability are essential
- Ability to use tact / discretion when dealing with sensitive or confidential situations
Available shifts :
- April 15 - 3pm to 5pm
- April 20 - 1pm to 3pm

Compensation
Per CUPE 3904,
Effective : January 1, 2021 to December 31, 2023
Exam Invigilator Pay Rate : $27.06 per hour
Total Hours of Work are not guaranteed, as we cannot predict the number of exams to be invigilated.
