Our Calgary based, locally owned and managed Real Estate client is seeking a Property Manager in Fort McMurray. Reporting to the President, this individual will be responsible for the daily operations of both residential and commercial properties.
This is a hands on role requiring follow up and face-to-face interactions with various stake holders. Required is excellent interpersonal skills, agility, and big picture’ problem solving abilities.
This individual must be able to work autonomously, as well as oversee and manage a direct report. They will be self driven, accountable and possess prior knowledge of the Residential Tenancy Act and the Alberta Condo Act in order to succeed in this role.
Duties and Responsibilities :
The key job functions are :
- Overseeing, managing and leasing the Fort McMurray properties
- Supervising and providing support to the Assistant Property Manager
- Scheduling contractors, service providers and negotiating contracts
- Tenant relations; including rent collection, lease logistics and coordinating repairs and service requests
- Conducting property inspections and organizing preventative maintenance
- Managing budgets and assisting in new developments and acquisitions
- Being a member of three Condo Boards and working with municipalities
- Other duties as assigned by the President as needed
Education :
Post-secondary education in a related field
Qualifications :
- Successfully complete a criminal background check
- Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle
- Proficient with MS Office Suite
- Strong understanding of the Residential Tenancies Act and the Alberta Condo Act
Experience :
- Minimum years experience in commercial / residential property management including supervision of staff
- Knowledge of Yardi property management software is considered an asset
Skills :
- Personable and resourceful self-starter
- Excellent communication, both verbal / written, and interpersonal skills
- Proficient conflict mediation and problem-solving abilities
- Flexible and adaptable in nature, able to shift priorities at any given time and manage multiple conflicting priorities
- Exceptional attention to detail and organization
- Ability to function effectively autonomously as well as in a leadership role
- Strong work ethic
- Highly flexible for after hours requests as needed
