Purpose :
This position is primarily responsible for developing and maintaining a robust sourcing strategy and streamlining processes to ensure overall best value procurement is achieved and external spending within the overall corporate spend has been optimized.
This person will also ensure that their functional group continuously monitors the enterprise sourcing needs, researches the marketplace and assesses its ability to meet those needs and develops sourcing strategies to execute on those strategies.
The Category Manager, Supplies and Equipment will work with the business lines and the Supply Chain team to support optimal delivery for the client.

Job Responsibilities :
- Support the design and implementation of best practice sourcing processes and policies
- Strengthen vendor relationships; negotiate terms and rebate programs, special prices and corporate contracts
- Promote and actively pursue continuous improvement on a regular and proactive basis of all procurement functions
- Communicate and meet regularly with vendors to discuss and improve performance, fill rates, quality, forecasts, and changes in the industry
- Perform market research and spend analysis on specific categories / programs
- Evaluate high spend categories of goods and services to determine where opportunities lie for pricing and contract renegotiations, contract / vendor consolidations, or alternative goods or services evaluations
- Identify new sources of supply on an ongoing basis and develop secondary sources
- Advise all related / involved parties on changes in markets
- Establish and maintain standard purchasing practices and policies to ensure honest, fair and ethical relationship with suppliers
Qualifications :
- Bachelor's degree is required
- Minimum 3+ experience as a product specialist or category manager within the Healthcare industry
- Must have strong interpersonal skills, communication skills and presentation skills
- PMAC is an asset
- Creative and conceptual thinker with well-developed analytical skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks at once and have a sense of urgency and be deadline-oriented
- Must have strong decision-making and problem solving skills
- Demonstrates -attention to detail / organizational skills
- Ability to work independently within a team environment
