Do you have strong mechanical and electrical aptitudes as they relate to PLC / HMI / robotic systems, motion control and devices typically found in industrial control systems? Reporting to the Systems Integration Manager, you will be responsible for configuration and set-up for both small and large-scale robotics projects. Depending on specific project requirements, this role may work independently or as part of a team and report to other levels of Control Systems Specialists or Team Leads.
Job Summary
- Primarily responsible for configuration and set-up for both small and large-scale robotics projects, including but not limited to :
Configuring and developing motion programs
Creating offline robot simulationsCommissioning and debugging machines at client sitesSetting up robot safety / standard IO communicationsProgramming multiple robot applications (welding, material handling, glue / sealer, vision)Troubleshooting electrical / mechanical and fluid power systemsSimulation of robots with 3D models using various softwareTake an active role in learning other core integration skills or expanding on skills, such as :PLC & HMI software development using Rockwell, Siemens, Schneider, Omron, Toyopuc
Electrical and fluid power designs using EPLAN and AutoCADMotion control systems using Rockwell, Siemens, BoschPeripheral systems including vision systems, marking systems, weld systems, etc.Additional robot programming and set-up using ABB, Fanuc, Motoman, Nachi, Kuka, etc.Support Team Leads by :Communicating project schedule requirements or upcoming project needs
Reporting to and collaborating with various levels of the RTA teamMonitoring small projects including project costs, scope, and schedulesEnsure project documentation is accurate, complete, current, and stored appropriatelyWork with other team members to develop and maintain systems to promote efficiencies and to strive for constant improvementRemain current with, and be able to find, applicable standards, codes, and rules as they relate to the work being donePurchase hardware and materials for projects in accordance with RidgeTech policiesTravel both locally and internationally to support clients as required (although not always regular, the potential for travel does exist and at times be extensive)Support clients during regular hours, after hours and on weekends as requiredSupport Managers and sales staff at technical reviews and client presentationsMaintain a constant lookout for potential projects and work for RidgeTechAdhere to the RidgeTech Automation Inc. company policies as outlined in the Team Member Handbook, including submitting timesheets and service reports accurately and on timeMaintain and develop technical and professional knowledge by attending training courses, supplier information sessions, webinars, etc. to remain current on the latest industry practices and technologiesUtilize non-chargeable time in an efficient and productive manner through the development of training modules, pursuit of new technologies and through creating and participating in R&D projectsOther relevant tasks / duties as assignedJob Qualifications and Skills
Requires a post-secondary degree / diploma in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems, Robotics & Automation, or similar education.Requires strong mechanical and electrical aptitudes and at least 1 year of experience in the automation industry, specifically relating to electrical drawing review, standard coding practices for PLC / HMI / Robotic systems, motion control and other devices typically found in industrial control systemsRobot programming experience with Fanuc, Kuka, Motoman, or ABB is requiredMust be a quick learner and a highly motivated team player, with strong analytical / problem-solving skillsPossess a positive attitude and be able to communicate well with both clients and team membersMust be able to manage and organize time and tasks efficientlyAble to work both independently and in a team environment and be able to coordinate effectively with other groupsMust have a working knowledge of Microsoft 365Robotic welding (spot or MIG) would be an assetProgramming experience with current PLC, HMI, VFD, SCADA, and motion control is an assetMust have the ability to work with and interest to learn a multitude of vendors hardware and softwareShould be able to manage stress created by unequal workloads and maintain a persistent and pleasant disposition with clients and other team membersAdditional Requirements

This is a full-time position at 40-44 hours per week; any additional hours will be based on client requirements, which will be compensated according to company policy (i.e. overtime, double time, shift premium)Work hours will depend on assigned work, with clients who may require specific onsite hoursOffice hours are typically 8 : 00am 4 : 30pm
Flex hours or remote work may be permitted depending on work and team requirementsOnsite client support after hours or during weekends may be requiredTeam Members must be able to work from the office in Cambridge, OntarioThis position requires local and international travel, depending on project requirements :RTA focuses on a local workload (1 to 2-hour radius / 100km radius of the Cambridge office)
