About Levante Living : Levante Living is an Ontario based company that invests in and operates Retirement Living residences.
We are a young, growing, vibrant company that has experienced significant growth in the last 9 years. We currently own and / or operation 25 retirement residences across southern Ontario.
You would be a part of a Support Office team of 23 who work virtually and travel when required. As a support office team we meet regularly, virtually to connect and enjoy each others company, encourage growth and share the journey.
This role will appeal to a seasoned veteran in the senior living sector who is looking to work remotely with the benefit of connecting in the field when necessary.
We are looking for someone who can help create and implement HR systems and processes, develop reporting channels, foster lines of communication, with the potential to build out an HR team in the future.
Roles and Responsibilities
Primary Duties :
- Responsible to oversee current labour negotiations and ongoing labour relations throughout the organization.
- Labour Relations : Be knowledgeable of collective agreement language in respective homes / residences. Provide labour and employee relations training and consulting to managers, and other supervisory personnel.
Ensure adherence to collective agreement terms, legislation and corporate policies. Assist managers with grievances and, if necessary, attend labour management meetings for more complex issues.
To respond to and be responsible for non-union wrongful termination complaints (up to but excluding Executive Director).
Responsible for helping to collect and communicate regional bargaining issues to the Labour Relations Centre of Expertise.
- Investigations : Provide advice, guidance and training to RDOs etc regarding investigation processes and practices. Provide oversight of workplace investigations, whether reported through internal processes of through eternal parties (e.
- g., regulatory agencies). Assist with file preparation and data gathering for statements of claim and other formal filings with formal review bodies (courts, tribunals, etc.);
- Discipline and Terminations : Support RDOs and the sites by providing guidance and advice on appropriate level of discipline to take and preparing all termination letters / packages and response to demand letters received;
- Compliance : Ensure compliance with federal and provincial employment and labour laws and company HR policies and procedures.
- Ensure consistency in application and execution of key HR programs, processes and systems;
- Collaborate with all parties to develop a positive working relationship based on mutual respect, trust and confidence (e.
- g. RDOs, EDs and their management teams, Unions);
- Recruitment : Provide oversight to our recruitment team in understanding and applying best practices for talent selection.
- Participate in the interview process for the hiring of site-level managers to ensure high quality talent is selected;
- Ensure policies and procedures are current and are in keeping with current relevant legislation for HR, Health and Safety, and AODA
- Oversee the Health and Safety program throughout the organization, WSIB claim submissions and management, and early and safe return to work.
- Responsible for the AODA plan and policies.
- Oversee Performance Management program
- Oversee Employee appreciation program
- Oversees Bi-weekly Payroll.
- Oversees Group Benefits and Pension Administration
Qualifications :
- University degree in Human Resources or Post-secondary diploma in HR management or equivalent.
- CHRP designation an asset. Minimum three five years of professional HR Generalist experience in Human Resources Management.
- Experience in a unionized environment and Labour Relations
- Experience in Health Care / Long Term Care an asset
- Proficiency with computer programs including, Microsoft Office package, UKG, Yardi
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong interpersonal, organizational and analytical skills.
