Job Description

Accountable for all special processes in a multi-functional manufacturing team that is responsible for the manufacturing of heavy components from raw material to finished product;

delivered to the Assembly Shop through the scheduling and forecasting of work; ensuring that targeted levels of efficiency,

productivity, cost, quality and due date compliance are achieved

  • Improve efficiencies and maintain continuous improvement initiatives lower overall manufacturing costs i.e. reduction in set up times, number of NCR's, scrap and rework, improve quality
  • Develop teamwork and improve motivation for both Production personnel as well as Manufacturing Engineers / CMM programmers
  • Ensure all personnel receive appropriate and effective training
  • Develop and adhere to budgets operating costs, capital etc.
  • Schedule and forecast work (in conjunction with the Machine Shop Planner) through the department ensuring sufficient capacity in equipment and personnel
  • Liaise with internal customers / suppliers i.e. shared services : Finance, Human Resources, and Quality etc.
  • Maintain discipline i.e. Compliance to company rules, procedures and Collective Agreement and Employment Standards Act

Job Requirements

  • University Degree or College Diploma in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum five (5) years in a machining environment.
  • Must have experience in an environment dealing with Special processes and the requirements for auditing.
  • Familiarity with aerospace components, manufacturing processing and quality control. SAP experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of Lean Principles and techniques, ability to interpret engineering drawings and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Management and leadership abilities in motivating staff and fostering teambuilding required.
  • Must possess problem solving skills and have the ability to be proactive and innovative in approach.
  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office, MRPII and detailed understanding of shop floor control systems, results driven, good time management and good organizational skills.
