Electronics Technologist - SCADA and Controls
Capital Regional District is seeking an Electronics Technologist to oversee and support SCADA systems and projects within Infrastructure and Water Services.
Location : Victoria, British Columbia, Canada
Pay Grade : CAN / 05 / 02 / J18
Rate of Pay : $48.72 – $55.19 per hour
Hours : 80 hours bi‑weekly

Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and administer SCADA system software, structure, and functionality; develop and implement procedures and standards.
- Maintain SCADA systems, including database and display updates, on‑site testing, and troubleshooting.
- Provide guidance to ensure enhancements, integrity, and application design meet operational needs.
- Specify, install, maintain, service, repair, and calibrate electrical / electronic equipment, controls, and instruments; provide expertise to IWS staff.
- Inspect, test, calibrate, and maintain SCADA and electronic equipment for accuracy and operational condition.
- Maintain hand‑held and fixed gas detectors.
- Analyze operating statistics to improve automation software and SCADA system operations.
- Execute technical functions for the Inflow and Infiltration (I & I) program.
- Design, install, commission, and program PLC, HMI, electronic equipment, and SCADA systems.
- Provide ongoing guidance on SCADA system use, design, and troubleshooting.
- Recommend, design, specify, purchase, install, and commission equipment and instruments for capital works and operations.
- Offer project management oversight for new, expansion, or modification projects and control logic changes.
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders; install and maintain data radio systems; coordinate with communication companies for telemetry line installations and upgrades.
- Prepare reports on equipment malfunctions or needs for new equipment.
- Follow all CRD policies, procedures, and standards.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Key Skills & Abilities
Excellent communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, and customer service skills.Advanced knowledge of SCADA systems for data monitoring, collection, and processing.Strong analytical, processing, and documentation skills.High proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word.Reasonable typing skills to complete required work.Strong organizational and documentation abilities.Capacity to analyze information in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment.Quick learner of new computer applications.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Knowledge of water and wastewater operations, computer systems, and basic network communications.Initiative with proven troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.Effective interaction with clients, the Industrial Automation team, and senior management.Project and database management skills.Knowledge of WorkSafeBC practices, Workers' Compensation Act, OHS regulations, and related safety statutes.Qualifications
Diploma in a related discipline.Minimum of 8 years of directly related experience.Certifications
Electronics Technologist or Technician (ASTT BC) or equivalent.Low Voltage Certification (Technical Safety BC).Valid BC driver's licence.Apply
