UNIX Midrange Support Consultant Position Overview The resource will provide midrange UNIX system support for SaskPower's IT operations. The consultant will ensure the stability, availability, and performance of UNIX environments, supporting business applications and operational requirements. Work may involve a mix of onsite (Regina, SK) and offsite/hybrid arrangements.
Responsibilities - Provide day-to-day administration, maintenance, and support for UNIX midrange systems.
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot hardware, OS, and application-level issues.
- Participate in on-call rotation and provide support outside normal business hours, when required
- Ensure system security, patching, and compliance with SaskPower's IT standards.
- Collaborate with internal teams to support application deployments and upgrades.
- Prepare and maintain documentation for system configurations, processes, and procedures.
- Contribute to project-related tasks requiring UNIX infrastructure expertise.
Mandatory Qualifications - Relevant post-secondary education (degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent).
- Minimum X years (to be confirmed in Position Catalogue) of hands-on UNIX midrange support experience.
- Proven experience with system administration, troubleshooting, and performance optimization in UNIX environments
Desired Qualifications - Certifications in UNIX/Linux system administration (, Red Hat, Solaris, AIX).
- Experience in hybrid/onsite-offsite delivery environments.
- Familiarity with scripting (, Shell, Perl, Python) for automation.
- Knowledge of ITIL practices for incident, problem, and change management.
