Overview
As part of Kruger Publication Papers division, Corner Brook Pulp and Paper Limited is a quality leader in the manufacture of newsprint. We hold the Sustainable Forest Initiative Certification and are self‑sufficient on energy between Deer Lake Power Generation, Steam Power and Steam Recovery. We aim to be fully reliant on clean energy.
We are looking for a candidate for the position of 2nd Class Power Engineer working in the Steam Plant. Power Engineers are responsible for the safe operation of high‑pressure boiler and auxiliaries including pumps, compressors, etc. The role requires checking and maintaining the demineralized water treatment system and the safe startup and operation of a 17 MW Siemens Turbogenerator.
Primary Responsibilities
- Ensure the plant & associated equipment is operated in compliance with applicable regulations, policies and procedures.
- Participate in plant lockout / tagout procedures to ensure tasks are completed safely.
- Perform plant rounds outside of the control room as required.
- Troubleshoot operational problems and initiate maintenance requests.
- Provide work direction to assistant shift engineers by coordinating work activities & offering guidance / technical advice.
- Previous experience working in a 1st class plant is considered an asset.
- Knowledge of safe plant operations.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
- Previous experience in a production environment is also an asset.
- Willingness to work on tasks outside the Steam Plant as required, including labour work.
Qualifications
Must hold a 2nd Class Power Engineering Ticket.Previous experience working in an industrial environment is an asset.Demonstrated commitment to Health and Safety.Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and handle changing priorities.Availability to work short‑notice and after‑hour calls.All applicants must have recent WHMIS training and possess Standard First Aid Certification.Applicant must provide proof of all relevant qualifications and be available for a pre‑employment testing procedure.Why Work at Kruger?
