Positions are entitled to Inmate Training Differential allowance which may range from 7-10% of the salary in the position staffed and a $2, Correctional Services Special Duty Allowance annually.
In an effort to address recruitment and retention issues of the GL-MAM the Employer will provide an annual terminable allowance of nine thousand five hundred ($9,) to GL-MAM refrigeration HVAC technicians who have refrigeration and air conditioning mechanic certification and perform the duties of a GL-MAM refrigeration HVAC technician.

Intent of the process
The intent of this process is to identify qualified candidates for current and anticipatory staffing needs for Building Service Technician position Beaver Creek Institution, Correctional Service of Canada.
Staffing needs include permanent, temporary (term) and casual (maximum 90 working days in a calendar year) employment opportunities.

Possession of a valid Ontario College of Trades License OR Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA) Certification in a minimum one of the following :
A Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Systems Mechanic, or
D Residential Air Conditioning Systems Mechanic, or
W Facilities Mechanic, or
B Facilities Technician, or
Gas Technician G2 (or higher) License
EXPERIENCE :
Experience using word processing software, spreadsheet software and an email platform.

Current valid possession of any one or more of the following :
A Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Systems Mechanic
D Residential Air Conditioning Systems Mechanic
W Facilities Mechanic
B Facilities Technician
Gas Technician G2 (or higher) Certification
Certifications such as journeyperson accreditation or diploma relevant to facility maintenance.
Qualification to inspect, maintain, repair, and test building fire safety systems as fire alarm and / or sprinkler systems, and / or firefighting equipment, fire separation doors and dampers.
As approved by Ontario College of Trades License or Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA) Certification.
Recent* experience in the operation, maintenance, and repair of Commercial and / or Institutional building systems such as :
- Heating, Ventilation and Air-Conditioning (HVAC) systems;
- Boilers;
Compressors; and / or Walk-in coolers and freezers.
Recent is defined as within approximately the past five years due to technical change, government priority and legislative changes.
Experience operating a variety of specialized maintenance tools and equipment, including test
equipment required for the operation, maintenance, and repair of building systems and equipment.
Experience working with :
Computer Maintenance Management Systems OR
Building Automation or Management Control Systems OR
Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) OR
Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs).
Experience performing simple metal work and metal fabrication such as : basic welding, brazing, soldering, cutting, grinding and bending.
Experience working in a correctional environment.
Experience supervising and / or training individuals.

Willingness and ability to work within a correctional environment and instructing inmates
Willingness and ability to work overtime, holidays, shiftwork for a 24 / 7 institutional establishment
Willingness and ability to travel to various institutions in Ontario

Must maintain valid occupational certification / license and training required for the position
Requirement to lift and carry items weighing up to 23kg utilizing basic safe lifting techniques

SELECTION PROCESS STAGES
This selection process has three stages :
Stage 1 - Screening
The applications will be reviewed (screened), specifically the responses to questions assessing the essential qualifications, imbedded in this job advertisement.

Stage 3 - Reference Checks
Two references will be requested in Stage 2.
