  • Accountability – we’re passionate about delivering on our commitments.
  • Inclusion – we provide equitable opportunities for everyone.

What Is The Opportunity

The Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) Advisor, reporting to the EHS Manager, will be engaged in the development, implementation, and oversight of the Aecon Safety Program for the Aecon Nuclear Fabrication Facilities in Cambridge and Brantford. The position may require night shift and weekend work.

What You'll Do Here

  • Work directly with the EHS Manager and the Fabrication team to support accountability in relation to Environment, Health and Safety.
  • Provide advisement and monitoring of the development, implementation, performance and effectiveness of the Safety Management Program, and all other EHS‑related plans.
  • Notify managers and supervisors of any compliance issues associated with the work and assist in the development and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Adopt a field‑facing approach to safety management, advising staff, modelling behaviour and reinforcing standards.
  • Ensure effective completion of project safety meetings and support or conduct audits and incident investigations.
  • Take an advisor role in promoting injury prevention within a culture of health, safety and continuous improvement.
  • Support the facility in notifications and event management.
  • Train staff on the requirements of safety procedures.
  • What You Bring To The Team

  • Designation such as NSCO or CRSP.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Health and Safety within the nuclear or construction industry.
  • Relevant post‑secondary education or equivalent experience in the Health and Safety field.
  • A team player who accepts and can manage change regularly.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to manage subcontractor safety performance.
  • Emergency planning and hot‑work procedures knowledge.
  • Experience working in a unionized environment.
  • Aecon fosters diversity, inclusion and belonging within and across our organization. We welcome all applicants, including women, visible minorities, Indigenous peoples, persons with disabilities, and people of any sexual orientation or gender identity.

We are committed to adhering to the objectives and requirements outlined in the Accessible Canada Act (ACA), and to meeting the accessibility needs of persons with disabilities in a timely manner.
