Fitness Instructor – Aquatic Fitness

You are an energetic and highly motivated individual who is available to instruct Aquatic Fitness programs. You have an excellent understanding of class facilitation within an aquatic environment and can teach at varying pool depths. You are a team player who is committed to community recreation and have experience teaching in a community setting. You are reliable, responsive to customer needs, and excellent at building relationships. You are courteous and effective with the public and enjoy working with a diverse group of people with varying fitness levels and comfortability in water. In addition, you are experienced in :

• Creating a supportive and engaging environment for participants of all ability levels.
• Adapting exercises to meet varying mobility and experience levels, with a focus on safety.
• Effective communication with participants and recreation staff.
• Tracking attendance and reporting any issues or concerns to your supervisor.
• Maintaining a professional and courteous demeanor as a representative of North Vancouver Recreation and Culture.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS :

The ideal candidate will have a BCRPA Aquatic Fitness certification or equivalent from a recognized provider, and a current certification in Emergency First Aid, CPR, AED. Experience teaching Aquatic Fitness programs within a community setting is preferred. Knowledge of exercise modification for participants with limited mobility.

All candidates are required to submit a Police Information Check as a requirement of the position. The pay for this casual position is $34.80 per hour, based on education and experience, plus 4% vacation pay. Hours may vary. Instructors should be prepared to teach at all times of the day including early mornings, evenings and / or weekend classes at any North Vancouver Recreation & Culture location.
