Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Controls Technician or Automation Specialist with IT Technician background to join our military defense client’s dynamic team in London, Ontario.
Controls Technician or Automation Specialist Responsibilities
- Program PLCs, HMIs, and more for a variety of industrial automation manufacturing scenarios.
- Troubleshoot process equipment and instrumentation including HMIs, PLCs, Drives, Servos, Safety Systems, flow meters and more.
- Create functional descriptions, flow charts, and control narratives for automation projects.
- Design electrical control panels based on project requirements using AutoCAD.
- Integrate, program and start up AC / DC and Servo drives.
- Quote projects based on draft specifications.
- Design and integrate safety monitoring systems and safety circuitry solutions, including safety relays, light curtains, scanners, safety mats and more into existing equipment or machinery functioning.
- Produce electrical drawings reflecting changes or additions to electrical systems in AutoCAD Electrical.
- Program and commission robot systems.
IT Technician Responsibilities
- Provide first-line support for hardware and software issues, ensuring timely resolution of technical problems.
- Install, configure, and maintain computer systems, networks, and peripherals.
- Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to AutoCAD and schematics.
- Conduct regular maintenance checks on IT equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Assist in the fabrication and installation of low voltage systems as needed.
- Utilize mechanical knowledge to detect faults in equipment and implement effective solutions.
- Support machinery operations by performing necessary diagnostics and repairs.
- Maintain accurate documentation of technical procedures, system configurations, and user interactions.
Qualifications
- 2-5 years in a controls technician or automation specialist role.
- 2-5 years troubleshooting and programming PLC's.
- 2-5 years IT administration experience including network administration.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD software and the ability to read schematics is preferred.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with experience in industrial electrician tasks is a plus.
- Ability to fabricate components as required for system installations or repairs.
- Proficiency in detecting issues within IT infrastructure and implementing maintenance protocols.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with team members.
Compensation, shifts, job perks
$25.97-$45.00 / hour; depending upon experience
Must be flexible to work all three shifts (days, afternoons, nights)
