Intermediate Municipal Engineer - Water - Eastern Canada

Our Canada team is looking for an experienced municipal engineer to add to our growing team in Halifax. Our team is focused on helping our municipal and provincial clients expand and improve their infrastructure systems through innovative and transformative solutions.
Position Overview :
The Intermediate Municipal Engineer will assist in advancing the growth of our practice by taking a leadership role with our teams, particularly in Halifax.

In this position you will perform various engineering and design assignments in project related to municipal roads, drainage and utilities, and both design and construction supervision.
In addition, you will lead field investigations and the preparation of inspection reports. We are looking for someone who is looking to take that next step in their career, moving into a leadership role with the full support and encouragement of our established team throughout Eastern Canada.
Responsibilities :
Showcase your skills and experience as a subject matter expert in the development of engineering designs for roads, drainage and hydrology, utilities, and related municipal projects.
Lead or contribute to the development of conceptual and detailed drawings of diverse municipal infrastructure and demonstrate working knowledge and design experience in the following areas : municipal roads, underground linear infrastructure included water facilities, sanitary sewers, storm / water drainage systems, grading and drainage, culverts, new land / site developments and upgrading of existing facilities.
Prepare design calculations, reports, construction plans, permit documents, quantity calculations, estimates and produce / check engineering analytical data and related information to ensure the design / technical reports are accurate.
Manage, coach, motivate and provide leadership for staff to provide high-quality services and innovative solutions to complex design challenges.
Manage or assist in the preparation of consulting team proposals and regularly enjoy the thrill of winning.
Champion Parsons’ support for new technologies, trends and advancements in the transportation planning field to retain technical competency, and to provide state-of-the-art services and advice to our clients.
Represent Parsons at professional association events, design standards workshops, and conferences.
Requirements :
P.Eng with 6+ years experience in municipal servicing (water and sanitary) and stormwater.
Effective interpersonal, verbal and writing communications and engagement skills.
Knowledge of national, provincial and municipal processes, policies, guidelines and standards related to municipal engineering and evolving industry trends.
Proficiency using civil / drainage related design software. For example, experience with some or all of the following, will be considered : AutoCAD Civil3D and / or MicroStation V8i, , InRoads, StormCAD, EPA-SWMM, ArcGIS, CivilStorm, Inroads Storm and Sanitary, and HEC-RAS software, PCSWMM, waterCAD (EPANET) or other PC software packages.
Bilingual English / French is not required but is preferred.
