As part of the provincial mental health services continuum, BC Mental Health & Substance Use Services (BCMHSUS) provides a diverse range of specialized, "one-of-a-kind" tertiary mental health and substance use services to adults across the province.

These include services located at the Forensic Psychiatric Hospital and six regional clinics, the Burnaby Centre for Mental Health & Addiction, and Heartwood Centre for Women.

In addition to delivering these clinical services, BCMHSUS provides provincial leadership for system-wide improvement through its work in : health promotion and illness prevention;

knowledge exchange; and research and academic teaching.

The Red Fish Healing Centre for Mental Health and Addiction , is a leading-edge facility that treats people with the most complex mental health and addictions challenges in Located on the historic Riverview Lands in Coquitlam, the virtually-enabled,105-bed facility will welcome its first patients in the fall of 2021.

The Red Fish Healing Centre is purpose-built for mental illness and addiction treatment, with therapeutic design elements that go hand-in-hand with a new, evidence-based model of care that represents decades of experience, expertise and research.

Red Fish is replacing The Burnaby Centre for Mental Health & Addiction. Both are operated by BC Mental Health and Substance Use Services, which is a program of the Provincial Health Services Authority.

The General Practitioner would work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team in order to effectively plan and manage care of clients to facilitate their recovery and rehabilitation during their stay in program.

If you share our passion for this specialized area of psychiatry with a special interest in addiction, and enjoy the challenge that comes with such a diverse specialty mix of cases, we invite you to consider joining our team.

You will use your expertise and background in treating complex clinical problems, supporting the ongoing education of our team, and furthering the overall health of this population within the province of British Columbia.

The interested physicians should be eligible for provisional or full licensure with CPSBC. Fellowship with the College of Family Physicians, or equivalent, is mandatory.

Experience in addiction medicine is desirable. The successful candidate is expected to participate in the on-call schedule.

The successful candidate will have a demonstrated ability to work successfully in a multidisciplinary team environment and will demonstrate a trauma-informed approach in their clinical work and professional relationships.
