As a Senior Environmental Compliance Specialist, you will join our Guelph or Mississauga, Ontario office (hybrid)as part of ourAlternative Delivery team.
The successful applicant will be a key contributor to Matrix’s growing portfolio of environmental services for large infrastructure projects through both project business development and project execution.
In this dynamic role, the Senior Environmental Compliance Specialist will be collaborating with internal and external subject experts to successfully meet the growing needs for environmental compliance on impactful projects across the province :
Lead and manage environmental requirements on infrastructure projects across Ontario
Oversee and provide leadership and technical input on environmental assessment, planning, design, and construction projects
Collaborate with private and public sector clients, approval agencies, sub-consultants, and subcontractors.
Engaging and liaising with stakeholders, including conservation authorities, municipal, provincial and federal governments and the public
Coordinate with internal project team across disciplines, including engineers, hydrogeologists, and ecologists
Leverage existing client relationships and cultivate new relationships to generate business development opportunities
Lead and prepare competitive bids and cost estimates for multi-disciplinary projects
Mentor and develop junior and intermediate staff members
What We Are Looking For
10+ years of construction, planning or experience in a consulting or directly related role managing environmental compliance
A bachelor’s or master’s degree in environmental planning, urban planning, geography, environmental science, or a related field
Experience with groundwater and surface water management, sustainability, noise and vibration, air quality and species at risk permitting process
Ability to work on a variety of projects in various sectors urban, transportation, infrastructure, oil and gas, wind and hydropower).
Experience working with transportation and municipal infrastructure planning and construction projects
Experience engaging with stakeholders including First Nations, municipal governments, conservation authorities and the private sector
Strong project management skills, including developing and monitoring of budgets, approved project scope and schedule, organizational skills, staff supervision and team communications.
Knowledge and working experience with regulatory requirements such Municipal Class EA process and the Canadian Impact Assessment Act
Experience leading or supporting large proposals or bids
Business development experience backed by a superior track record of building productive client relationships.
Valid G class driver’s license is required.
The following would be considered an asset :
Knowledge or technical working experience with Regulation 153 / 04 and 406 / 19
Experience working directly for a construction firm or consortium on P3 projects
Experience working with Metrolinx and the Ministry of Transportation (MTO)
Familiarity or working knowledge of ISO 140001

We offer a comprehensive compensation package, which includes benefits, RRSP matching, vacation daysandsick days.This is a permanent position with asalary range of $95,000 - $142,000, starting pay is dependent on multiple factors, such as skills, experience and work location.
