Software Engineer II, Cost Engineering Team
What You'll Do
- Work with your team’s tech lead and manager to break down larger projects into tasks, deliver them in multiple phases, and collaborate with others to ensure timely delivery.
- Support peers and stakeholders throughout the product lifecycle by collaborating with product management, design, and analytics, articulating technical constraints, and partnering on decisions that properly consider risks and trade‑offs.
- Support operations and availability of your team’s artifacts by creating and monitoring metrics, escalating when needed, and participating in on‑call efforts to keep the lights on.
- Contribute to a sense of community on your team by engaging in growth and development activities, such as participation in the interview process.
What We Look For
1.5+ years of experience as a software engineer.Experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems; proficiency in Python or Kotlin.Familiarity with building blocks of distributed systems and technologies such as AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.Experience building cost visibility via tagging and creating cost savings opportunities via cost analysis.Ability to translate simple problems or business scenarios into solutions that interact with multiple software components, writing clear, well‑tested, and extensible code.Comfort navigating a large code base, debugging others’ code, and providing feedback through code reviews.Evidence of ownership of personal growth, proactively seeking feedback from team and stakeholders.Strong verbal and written communication skills that support effective collaboration with a global engineering team.Either equivalent practical experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a related field.Compensation
Pay Grade : L
Equity Grade : 5
Base pay range per year : $125,000 – $175,000
Employees new to affirm typically start at the beginning of the pay range. Compensation may include equity rewards, monthly stipends for health, wellness, and tech spending, and benefits (including 100% subsidized medical coverage, dental, and vision for you and your dependents). Employees may also be eligible for equity rewards offered by affirm holdings, inc.
