Manager, Maintenance
Reporting to the Manager, Operations the Manager, Maintenance has the responsibility of leading the Fixed and Mobile Maintenance departments as well as the Electrical engineering team.
The role is responsible to ensure that the necessary workforce and equipment are in place to meet goals and that all maintenance resources are trained and qualified to participate in maintenance activities.
The role is also responsible to deploy a strong maintenance planning system with the usage of the Enterprise Resource Planning Software (ERP) along with the deployment of the Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
Key Responsibilities
Area 1 :
Oversee and implement fixed and mobile maintenance programs to maximize production efficiency, infrastructure performance and resources.
- Establish an overall strategy for maintenance based on input from other departments including targets, goals and priorities.
- Develop and direct the implementation of maintenance programs, processes and policies to meet organizational governance requirements and standards.
- S upport the usage and further deployment of the Enterprise Resource Planning Software (ERP) along with all of the maintenance systems .
- Set maintenance production budget using information from the overall mine and processing budgets and business plan targets.
- Establish maintenance targets, ensuring mill output and equipment availability in the mining plans are achieved.
- Advise and support the purchasing of new or used equipment and spare parts for the fixed assets.
- Manage the mobile maintenance contracts as well as develop a plan for transition to owner’s team.
- Investigate options and recommend short and long-term projects and approaches to enhance efficiency and cost effective of maintenance operations.
Area 2 :
Provide leadership to the maintenance team.
- Direct the implementation and execution of the maintenance plans and targets.
- Ensure the necessary manpower and equipment is in place to meet production goals, within budgeted costs.
- B uild an appropriate team through recruitment and development.
- Ensure that all maintenance resources are trained and qualified to participate in daily activities.
- Provide clear work objectives and expectations of the performance levels required to achieve business objectives and production goals.
- Manage performance by setting expectations, conduct performance reviews and providing feedback and coaching to direct reports.
- Stay abreast of mining laws and safety regulations, and issue directives to direct reports to ensure adherence to applicable rules and regulations.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements and Nice To Haves
minimum qualifications, formal education, certifications or equivalents
- University degree in mechanical engineering, industrial or electrical engineering or equivalent work experience.
- PMP certification considered an asset.
Work experience - Nature & Length
- 15 years of related work experience, with at least 10 years of related supervision experience.
- Experience in the mining industry / natural resource industry is required.
- Experience in Project Management is a key asset.
- Experience working with a major M.A.R.C (Maintenance and Repairs Contract) will be considered an asset.
- English oral and written communication and good interpersonal skills.
- Well organized, works well independently and in team settings.
- Possess good time management skills and is able to work effectively under pressure.
- Strong understanding of cost estimating and executing multiple tradesoffs efficiently.
- Proficiency in computer applications and software, specifically MS Office, CMMS software with Oracle eAM's knowledge is an asset.
- Proactive and energetic customer service orientation with awareness to issues of equity and diversity.
