Manager, DC Inventory
Join RONA as a Manager, DC Inventory to support our Distribution Centers and Direct Delivery Centers across Canada.
Responsibilities
- Identify and implement cost‑saving opportunities, protect inventory by monitoring new product introductions, controlling damages, and mitigating obsolescence.
- Plan, develop and implement data‑driven inventory methods.
- Create an annual distribution‑center / DDC inventory budget by allocating the corporate budget into predetermined cost buckets.
- Monitor facility budgets regularly against inventory adjustment costs, damages, and miscellaneous costs to ensure the facility remains at or below budget target.
- Manage up to $300 million of inventory across all sites, ensuring inventory accuracy through vendor compliance, receiving issues, inventory adjustments, cycle counting, shrink investigation, PO transfers, and related activities.
- Conduct internal finance inventory audits and coordinate external consultant year‑end audits.
- Create volume inventory forecasts (SKU management, slotting, shrink & obsolescence forecasts).
- Perform analyses to explain and justify inventory discrepancies (cost variance, inventory turnover, obsolescence, ABC analysis, storage capacity).
- Develop, manage, and monitor distribution‑center performance reports on inventory accuracy, cost, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Collaborate as a business partner and DC inventory advisor with Supply Chain, Finance and Merchandising for ongoing transformation projects.
- Mentor supervisors, monitor their performance, and set them up for success; achieve or exceed key performance, safety, and budget targets.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.Certification in inventory management (e.g., CPIM) or a relevant finance certification (e.g., CPA, CMA).Bilingual in French and English.7–10 years of experience in inventory management with a strong emphasis on financial aspects.5–7 years of team‑leadership experience.Experience with large distribution‑center operations.Proven leadership and team‑building ability, managing large teams including supervisors.Track record of optimizing inventory levels, reducing costs, and improving control processes.Experience as a supply‑chain specialist or in a similar field.Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to leverage financial data for informed decisions.Experience creating and managing budgets.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills at all organizational levels.Analytical and troubleshooting skills for complex problems, with creative problem‑solving.Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.Willingness to mentor and coach others.Ability to resolve interpersonal conflicts within a team.Highly motivated for the team’s and facility’s success.Optimistic approach to change, adapting proficiently to evolving work environments.Positive coping in high‑stress environments.High proficiency with Warehouse Management Systems (BY‑WMS, Exced), Access, and Excel.Proven record of safety compliance and building a safety culture among subordinates and peers.Benefits
