THE ROLE
The Industrial Mechanic Millwright will report to the Service Centre Manager. The Mechanic will be responsible for work related to the removal, dismantle, evaluation, and rebuilding of rotating equipment such as pumps, blowers, and grinders from municipal and industrial facilities / installations. This position includes both field service work along with workshop activities, with the majority of the work occurring in the Service Centre.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Read manuals, blueprints, diagrams and schematic drawings to determine required work procedures for the dismantle, evaluation and repair of rotating equipment (pumps and blowers)
- Install bearings, align gears and shafts, attach and align motors, connect coupling and belts, perform predictive and operation maintenance using laser alignment tooling, vibrational analysis and destructive / non-destructive testing, service and repair hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, and may do some tack welding, fabrication of machinery and equipment
- Operate hoisting and lifting devices such as cranes, jacks, and fork lifts during the removal and re-installation of equipment
- Install, align, dismantle, and move stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment, such as pumps and blowers
- Inspect and examine machinery and equipment to detect and investigate irregularities, malfunctions, and cause of failure
- Clean, lubricate, and perform other routine maintenance work on machinery
- Assemble machinery and equipment prior to installation using hand and power tools and welding equipment
- Have a complete understanding of engineering standards and specifications.
- Measure and examine parts to ensure conformance to specifications using precision instruments such as micrometers.
- Gather information and based on his / her findings / inspection, create a work scope and recommendation of repair.
- Candidate will participate in the estimate process, determining man hours for each operational step.
- Capable of performing RCA (root cause failure analysis) of equipment.
- Operate machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders to fabricate parts required during overhaul, maintenance, or set-up of machinery
- Understand the necessity of adhering to budgetary constraints.
- Meet time line and or end dates on a consistence basis.
- Available to work overtime as needed.

High school diploma or equivalentMinimum of three years workshop experienceIndustrial Millwright Red Seal CertificationAbility to read / understand blueprints, layouts, and drawingsAbility to make improvements or modifications to mechanical equipment with the use of the lathe, milling machine, drill press, hydraulic press, grinding equipment, band saw, cut off saw, Stick / MIG / TIG welding, oxygen / acetylene - brazing and cutting.Experience operating various power toolsHold a valid Ontario Class G Driver’s license and a clean driving recordMust work in compliance of Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulationsForklift operation experience (Reach and Counterbalance)Must have own toolsDesirable :
