Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Database Administrator / Database Developer to design, develop, and maintain reliable, high-performing database systems that support clinical and business operations. This role plays a key part in data governance and data stewardship , working closely with the decision support / analytics team to ensure data integrity, quality, security, availability, and performance. As part of the Information Technology team, the position supports analytics, reporting, and application development initiatives while enforcing enterprise data standards and governance policies
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and enhance physical and logical database architectures aligned with enterprise data governance standards.
- Develop, implement, and maintain data administration policies, standards, naming conventions, and data models.
- Create and maintain database schemas, data dictionaries, metadata repositories, and master / reference data.
- Develop SQL queries, functions, stored procedures, scripts, and triggers to support applications and analytics.
- Build and maintain data extraction and custom import processes (EPIC and non-EPIC sources).
- Develop and maintain ETL solutions using SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), ensuring traceability and data lineage.
Operations & Security & Performance
Optimize databases for performance, scalability, reliability, and security in compliance with organizational and regulatory requirements.Monitor database performance, capacity, access and usage patterns.Perform routine maintenance, backups, archiving, and recovery activities.Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues, including performance, integrity and availability concerns.Design and implement high availability, disaster recovery and data loss prevention solutions.Data Governance, Quality & Compliance
Ensure data integrity, accuracy, consistency and timelines across systems; proactively identify and resolve data quality issues.Enforce data governance frameworks, including standards for data ownership, stewardship, access, retention and lifecycle management.Support data security, privacy, and compliance requirements (e.g. healthcare regulatory and internal controls).Research and document data requirements, data collection and administration policy, data access rules and security.Establish and maintain documentation for database design, metadata, configuration, data lineage, and change management.Support testing, bug fixes, validation, auditing and certification of database objects and data assetsCollaborate with users, subject matter experts, developers, and other members of the IT team.Provide technical guidance and support to resolve database-related issues.Promote strong data management practices and knowledge-sharing practices across the organization.Apply agile development principles and continuously improve database and data governance processes.Strong analytical, technical, and troubleshooting skills.Advanced SQL development expertise.Proven experience with Microsoft SQL Server and SSIS.Strong background in data architecture, data modeling and data governance principles.Experience implementing data quality controls, standards and validation processes.Ability to adapt to changing business and regulatory requirements.Strong communication skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively.Willingness and ability to learn new tools, platforms, and governance practices.Strong understanding of IT systems architecture and enterprise technology frameworks.Qualifications
Degree or Diploma in Computer Science or a related engineering or technology discipline.3–5 years of experience in a Database Administration or Database Development role.Expert-level knowledge of :Database theory, design, and enterprise data managementMicrosoft SQL Server and RDBMS technologiesSQL and SSISSolid understanding of :Data warehousing concepts and dimensional modelingBusiness intelligence tools (Power BI preferred)Data governance, metadata management, and data quality frameworks.Distributed computing architectures (client–server, web-based systems)Operating systems (Windows and Linux)Storage technologies, networking, and database failover / recoveryExperience with EPIC Cogito Systems AdministrationExperience supporting data governance initiatives.Experience with Python and / or web developmentFamiliarity with Microsoft Power Apps and Microsoft FormsExperience working with regulated or clinical data environments.Self-motivated, reliable, and detail-oriented.Strong commitment to data quality, data governance, security and patient safety.Demonstrated reliability, punctuality, and professional accountability.Ability to operate within IT systems architecture and enterprise technology frameworks.Please Note : Assignment subject to change based on the needs of the department.
