Overview
NexGold has an exciting opportunity for one full-time permanent Manager, Project Controls and Risk based from our Corporate Office with occasional trips to project sites. During projects’ construction phase, this role may be required to work on a rotational schedule at the project site. Initially, this role will be assigned to the Goldboro Gold Project in Goldboro, Nova Scotia, however this role may be assigned to the Goliath Gold Complex near Dryden, Ontario, or other project sites in the future. This role is responsible for the forecasting and management of the project costs and schedules under the leadership of the Project Director. This role ensures current project performance data is gathered and analyzed for forecasting to best manage project costs and schedule outcomes as well as identifying risks and uncertainties in advance. The Manager will develop and manage systems, processes, and procedures relating to planning, cost estimating, cost control, schedule analysis, trend analysis, scope management, and change management. The role will have reporting requirements relating to cost control.

Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for overall coordination and management of the Project Controls team and activities and accountable for overall Project Controls performance
- Responsible for preparation of the overall project schedule, with input from various contractors and consultants
- Responsible for preparation of the overall project capital cost estimate, with input from various contractors and consultants
- Responsible for monitoring and trending project progress, schedule and cost against the baseline
- Provide guidance in preparing documents for the Authorization for Expenditure (AFE), Project Scope of Work (SOW), and oversee uploads into the appropriate system
- Responsible for overseeing the establishment and maintenance of a document control system and the document control team
- Conduct in depth analysis and review of progress payment statements from the EPC / EPCM providers, contractors, and consultants
- Own the process to identify risks to the project baselines and develop mitigation plans
- Identify potential changes and develop action plans to ensure the Change Management Process is followed
- Work with Finance to ensure accurate reporting of accruals, cash flow forecasts and project status
- Prepare the Project Controls Management Plan (PCMP); periodically review and update the PCMP and other key business documents
- Establish processes and procedures for the use and dissemination of cost estimating, cost reporting, scheduling, and document / data control systems
- Establish project reporting systems; coordinate and manage the preparation of periodic project reports; extract project reports, and analyze and communicate with the Project Team and other stakeholders
- Responsible for accurate cost, schedule, progress and quantity reporting and change management
- Develop recovery plans for any cost over-runs and / or schedule delays
- Participate in the technical and financial project close out process in liaison with Engineering, Contracts & Procurement and Construction
- Establish and maintain integration with accounting, cost tracking and scheduling systems that will be used to report on project performance
- Assist the project team, contractors and vendors in the set-up and implementation of cost estimating, cost control, planning / scheduling and document / data control procedures required on the project
- Prepare the project’s Risk Management Plan (RMP) in conjunction with the Project Director; periodically review and update the RMP and other key business documents
- Develop risk management processes, procedures, and systems
- Coordinate all risk management processes and activities including development and updating of the Project Risk Register, and facilitation of periodic Risk Workshops; report on mitigation activities
- Prepare periodic Risk Reports
- Demonstrate a personal commitment to Safety, Health and Environmental responsibilities
- Occasional regional travel (i.e., day trips to communities surrounding the project sites) during the engineering phase of the project
- During projects’ construction phase, this role may be required to work on a rotational schedule at the project site (site schedule still to be determined, and dependent on composition of project team to be hired)
- Additional responsibilities or tasks as reasonably assigned
What You Bring
Must Haves
Undergraduate or Graduate Degree in Engineering, Project Management or Construction Management from a recognized universityMinimum 15 years’ experience in an engineering & construction and / or Owner’s project team environment supporting mining projects, including at least five years of increasing responsibility as a project managerExperience managing large greenfield or brownfield projects ($100 million to $1 billion)Strong contract management skillsWorking knowledge of construction methods, building systems and terminologyExperience working with multiple stakeholdersStrong leadership skills including the ability to motivate and engage a teamSuperior interpersonal and relationship management skillsA willingness to travel extensively and for varying durationsValid driver's licenseExcellent oral and written communication skillsProficiency in Microsoft OfficeAbility to work with minimal supervisionPreferred Qualifications
Certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP) or a Certified Construction Manager (CCM) is considered an assetProfessional Engineer registration (P. Eng.) credential is preferred, but not mandatoryRole Details
Schedule : Monday to Friday, 8 : 00am-5 : 00pm.
